DFW Layover question

AA just changed our flights and we now have only a 40 minute layover in Dallas. Do you think that is enough time? I don't like to cut it that close but my other option is to get back 3 hours later and with us going to work the next day I like the earlier flight times.

thats good amount of time if you arrive on time, you may need even less. The airport mover on top can get you from one side to an other in less than 10 min.

It really depends on what terminal/gate you arrive at, and what terminal/gate you depart from. Since they start boarding 30-minutes before departure, and like to have the door to the plane closed at least 5 minutes before departure, that doesn't give you a lot of time.

I connect thru DFW A LOT. Given a choice I try to get an hour between flights. I used to be ok with 30 mins when AA just had the A & C terminals but now if you have to go between B & C or A&D, it can make that too tight. The most frustrating thing is how long it takes to get to the gate after you land if you are on the runway on the other side of the terminal.

You did not say WHEN you are traveling. Most of my missed connections occur in May & June due to afternoon Thunderstorms.

I think you are ok at 40 mins between flights IF there are later flights you can take if you miss connection. We are from Austin, so there are normally flights every 60 -90 mins. I NEVER schedule the last flight to Austin.

Now that I think about it, the missed connections (that stranded me over night) I have had in DFW coming back from MCO have been on Delta. AA has never left me stuck. In fact, when our MCO flight had mechanical trouble and was late leaving, AA had already rebooked our connceting flight for us automatically our new boarding passes were waiting at the ticket counter.

My dh made a 40 min connection there this morning. At least, I'm assuming he did....I didn't hear from him, which would mean he made it to the gate in time to make the connection.

40 minutes is entirely doable BUT it leaves no room for error or delay. Call AA and let them know your schedule was changed and you're not comfortable with only a 40 minute layover. They will change your flights (at no charge) to your liking given the origin/destination and date remain the same, or within a day.

Good luck

We just flew from Indianapolis to Orange county via DFW, and, if possible, I will never do so again. We had a 1 hour layover. Because of weather conditions, our plane from Indy was late, and DFW was wanting the connection to leave on time. Our plane actually wasn't late, as such, but the plane at the gate we were supposed to be unloading from was having problems, and we spent several minutes on the tarmac. Our luggage didn't make it onto the plane to Orange county and the agent in Orange county wouldn't even take our report until the next plane from Indy landed. Talk about an unpleasant start to a trip. Pretty much, the same thing happened on the trip home. We, ourselves, just barely made the connection.

coincidince ? The most problems I've had with missed connections in DFW have been related to flights to & from Indy. I seldom have an Indy flight leave on time to DFW.
