Inspired by the Detroit layover thread......

How is Dallas/Fort Worth? I have 45 minutes to make my connection. We'll have at least 5 people (including 2 kids) and probably 5 carry-ons. Hopefully there's enough time for a potty break?

Why do the airlines sell (recommend) you these flights that are cutting it so close?

It could be tight. Problem with DFW is sometimes it takes forever to get to a gate. You can land on time and sit for 15 minutes on the ground waitng for a gate. I am not sure why this is, but I fly in and out of there often and I would say 7 out of 10 times this is true. If you let the flight attendants know that you have a tight connection, they are pretty good at asking people to let you out first. This happened on Christmas day when I flew down there.
Also are you flying the same carrier for both legs of the trip? If not, they have several teminals and you have to catch a shuttle between them.
Best of luck, I hope it goes smoothly for you.

I usually try to schedule about a 1 hr cushion between flights when going through DFW, but I've actually made it through the airport with less than that. You won't have much downtime, but the tram system there is efficient if you have to change terminals and I think you'll be ok. I do agree that letting a flight attendant know you have a tight connection is a good idea. Also, I would recommend getting to your correct terminal/gate area first, have one person go to the gate check-in counter and let them know you're there while the others take a potty break. Or, just visit the restroom on the plane as close to landing as possible so you won't need to stop in the terminal. Good luck!
