Dexter Original Sin, anyone else watching?

It is amazing so far, we are binging & 3 episodes in. YAY, I didn't have much hope but am loving it.

I’m watching, and really enjoying it. I can’t wait for the next episode, I’ve seen 7 so far.

Nope no intention to watch. The TV ads look like yet another gruesome crime show which isn't my idea of entertainment.

Right, it is better than expected, thought it was going to fall flat with half baked effort so it's refreshing to not suck LOL

It is set in the 80s when Dexter was young and I'm really enjoying the throwbacks, it is a good vibe. They did a great job with finding younger versions of the original characters especially James Martinez as Batista to see the story coalesce, Patrick Gibson is the right amount of detached to make Dexter sort of likable which is a tough sell. Totally love the fact they are casting old scream stars like Christian Slater from Heathers and Sarah Michelle Gellar from Buffy. Best touch is Michael C Hall does the narration so it is very familiar. Binging again today, so far fantastic with a great cast!

FYI Paramount + plus Showtime has a 1 week free trial so I am also rewatching Billions:)

Yes I am enjoying it. My husband is from Miami and was a teen in the 80s and he is having fun reliving the memories - he even worked at Blockbuster. But he didn't murder anyone. 😵

The only casting that I'm not particularly fond of is how the young Deb is portrayed. I know that's how she behaves as an adult. There's just something off about her teenage role.

Also, one thing that's puzzling me and my memory is long gone on the original Dexter. So in the original Dexter, we learn that Dexter is found as, what I recall, a toddler in a shipping container sitting in his mother's blood after she was murdered. Do I have the correct? On this prequel, it seems like Dexter is going to be more like 5 years old when his mother dies. Am I misremembering?

You are right he does seem much younger in the original but if that was from dexters memories it makes sense it could be off a bit from reality, I think there was a scene or more in later episode(s).

Deb's youthful character is a bit jarring but as I watch it makes sense. It seems designed to make us see that the father is not a good guy at all, and he is not. The dad is a very messed up person so that wasn't really covered as much in the original series where he seemed more like a guy trying to save this kid he took in. I won't give too much away but now I see he is plainly such a deeply flawed messed up person on his own really fleshed out the home life and Dab's behavior is a cry for help he ignores. Guy has zero sense of morality and with Deb's constant neglect in the time after her mom's death and I find myself feeling very bad for the character, the only normal in a home of two dead inside men. As for her outlandish behavior, it is a product of anger of her moms death and her dad. When I was in school we cursed way more and I knew people who did way worse, sneaking out was nothing (although I didn't because of random mom bathroom time bed checks) and I even knew a girl who brought a married man to our prom, she was the babysitter I think and the guy was called home to his wife so the girl spent prom sobbing in the bathroom... city kids are in a league of their own.

One of my daughters and her boyfriend binge watched Dexter over a few weeks in preparation for the new series. They’ve enjoyed it so far.

I'll have to check it out. I never watched the original Dexter, but have been looking for a series to start.
