At least this winter, Southwest has (finally) added a direct flight from DTW to MCO. Morning down, evening back. In the past, they've always made you connnect through goodness-knows-where, and were never that cheap to boot. It looks like they are getting a bit more serious about our market.

Thanks for the info! I only fly direct because we hate to waste time. I can usually get flights for 49 one way (Spirit or NW). How does SW compare?

Likewise, just picked up a N/S in March for $49 e/w. Unfortunatly, they had already sold out of the cheap N/S fare back to DTW, so I have to connect in STL. I personally will start watching Southwest like a hawk as they have been high recommended on these boards, and finally after thirty some odd years in DTW, have added some good routes besides BNA and MDW...

Just in time for us to have moved to Minneapolis, and still be subject to the whims of NWA! We're flying Sun Country to MCO in the Spring, but I think we connect in Dallas. I made the reservations so long ago now, that I don't even remember the route... Congrats to my DTW homies though! :goodvibes

Glad to see this happen for those of us in Detroit! I'm using my RR ticket in a few days but have to connect in MDW.
