Tchoup Chop (in the Royal Pacific)
We had an 11:30 lunch PS at Tchoup Chop. Background:
My Mom (50s) likes practically everything but is the best at knowing whats good and what isnt. Favorites are Italian and seafood.
My dad (50s) extremely picky! Favorites are Barbecue, Italian and seafood.
Myself (30) - always told I was a picky eater but compared to my dad, Im not! Favorites are Asian food and seafood.
My daughter (5-1/2) doesnt like traditional kids foods like mac and cheese, etc. Has developed a gourmet taste already! Favorites are pasta, crab legs, salmon and ribs.
We are all major dessert lovers.
Our rating system is yucky, so-so, good, very good, and excellent.
The menu is excellent many choices and lots of seafood. The atmosphere here is beautiful.
I ordered one of the specials, which the waiter recommended. It was a crab swordfish that had all sorts of other things that I have no idea what they were but everything came together perfectly and was excellent, my best meal out of our 2-week vacation.
My mom ordered the Creative Clay Pot of the Day served with Steamed Rice, which turned out to be monkfish and rated it excellent.
My dad ordered the Hawaiian Style Lunch Plate including Kiawe Smoked Ribs, Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Grilled Chicken, Chorizo Potato Hash and Baked Macaroni. Everything was excellent with the exception being the macaroni, which was not at all cheesy, dry, and all stuck together.
My daughter ordered the Chicken Spring Rolls with Barbecue Dipping Sauce off the kids menu. I can tell you first hand, they were absolutely delicious! Moist, succulent chicken inside crispy pastry-like square folded rolls. Oh man, just thinking about them makes my mouth water! She also went with the waiter suggestion to get the Ramune Carbonated Soft Drink (a Tokyo soda). She didnt like it but I drank it and loved it! It was quite citrus-y. They have a great menu for kids that turns into a chefs hat.
For dessert, I was too full (after eating my fish and most of my daughters spring rolls). My mom ordered the pecan pie with vanilla bean ice cream and my dad ordered the praline parfait. Well, after 15 minutes, I had a little space in my stomach to try them, and we all agreed both were excellent. My daughter ordered the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from the kids menu. She ate every one of them and called them yummy.
Service was excellent. Also, I have the lunch and kids menus if anyone is interested in details.
We will definitely eat at Tchoup Chop again on our next trip to the Universal area.
Check out my other Universal restaurant reviews on this board including: Mythos, Confisco Grille, Latin Quarter, Emerils, Mamma Dellas & The Kitchen, as well as my Disney restaurant reviews on the Disney Restaurants board!
