Tchoup Chop (in the Royal Pacific)
We had an 11:30 lunch PS at Tchoup Chop. Background:

My Mom (50s) – likes practically everything but is the best at knowing what’s good and what isn’t. Favorites are Italian and seafood.
My dad (50s) – extremely picky! Favorites are Barbecue, Italian and seafood.
Myself (30) - always told I was a picky eater but compared to my dad, I’m not! Favorites are Asian food and seafood.
My daughter (5-1/2) – doesn’t like “traditional” kid’s foods like mac and cheese, etc. Has developed a gourmet taste already! Favorites are pasta, crab legs, salmon and ribs.
We are all major dessert lovers.
Our rating system is yucky, so-so, good, very good, and excellent.

The menu is excellent – many choices and lots of seafood. The atmosphere here is beautiful.

I ordered one of the specials, which the waiter recommended. It was a crab swordfish that had all sorts of other things that I have no idea what they were but everything came together perfectly and was “excellent,” my best meal out of our 2-week vacation.

My mom ordered the Creative Clay Pot of the Day served with Steamed Rice, which turned out to be monkfish and rated it “excellent.”

My dad ordered the Hawaiian Style Lunch Plate including Kiawe Smoked Ribs, Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Grilled Chicken, Chorizo Potato Hash and Baked Macaroni. Everything was “excellent” with the exception being the macaroni, which was not at all cheesy, dry, and all stuck together.

My daughter ordered the Chicken Spring Rolls with Barbecue Dipping Sauce off the kid’s menu. I can tell you first hand, they were absolutely delicious! Moist, succulent chicken inside crispy pastry-like square folded rolls. Oh man, just thinking about them makes my mouth water! She also went with the waiter suggestion to get the Ramune Carbonated Soft Drink (a Tokyo soda). She didn’t like it but I drank it and loved it! It was quite citrus-y. They have a great menu for kids that turns into a chef’s hat.

For dessert, I was too full (after eating my fish and most of my daughter’s spring rolls). My mom ordered the pecan pie with vanilla bean ice cream and my dad ordered the praline parfait. Well, after 15 minutes, I had a little space in my stomach to try them, and we all agreed both were “excellent.” My daughter ordered the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from the kid’s menu. She ate every one of them and called them “yummy.”

Service was excellent. Also, I have the lunch and kid’s menus if anyone is interested in details.

We will definitely eat at Tchoup Chop again on our next trip to the Universal area.

I've been waiting for this review - great job!! I can't wait to eat here, the spring rolls sound awesome! Are they only on the kid's menu?

Mmmmmm Tchoup chop sounds really nice. Looking forward to trying this. What were you drinking at all the restaurants? How expensive was the wine, and liquor coffees afterwards?

Another positive Tchoup chop review. We loved it but didn't like Emerils at all. As far as entree costs, I believe they started around $23 and went up. I think the hawain platter i had was around $26, but worth it.

thanks for the review. we have ressies for Tchoups next sunday....

just wondering if my 13 daughter will be able to eat off kids menu. She eats so little which is why I stay away from buffets with her. We pay adult price and she eats a roll and butter.

oh well..

can't wait to go.......

The kids loved their meals and the attention from the waiters.

Thanks, JessicaR, for saving me the time of typing up all that!

minijeanie, The menu says "For children 12 years and under." Maybe they'll ask her if she wants a child's menu and not ask her age. She's so close, they shouldn't mind.

Puffy2, entrees from the lunch menu run from $13 (burger) to $24 (filet mignon). The Hawaiian platter is $20. It doesn't list desserts and I can't remember how much they were.

Selina, At the restaurants, my mom and I always had either Diet Cokes or Iced Teas. My dad had beer or wine. I don't know the prices. The mixed cocktails on the lunch menu of Choup Chop run from $8-12.

TigerLilly's Mom, the spring rolls are only on the kid's menu, but they may have a similar appetizer.

Esmerelda, we also had a 11:30 PS for lunch,we were there on 10/22. Everything was delicious. My12DD had the Fettucine Alfredo,Yum. My11DD had the Filet Mignon, delicious. I had the Crunchy Shrimp Appetizer. IT was sooooo good! I also had the gulf shrimp and rice entree, very good. DH had the burger which was also good. We skipped dessert since we were so full. We will certainly return here.

Denise

They didn't give us children's menus right away since neither one of my DDs look under 12,we just asked for them. No problem.

Esmeralda,

Thank you for posting your review of Tchoup Chop. It sounds like you all had a great time! princess:

I've heard nothing but good things about Tchoup Chop so far, and I hope we will be able to try it for ourselves tomorrow when we are there for our Anniversary.

And now I return to my regularly scheduled heavy hinting to my DH... :hyper:
