If you've ever thought that the Dis was contentious, FYI, we have nothing on the "fights" that can happen on the knot (or any wedding planning message board) in their forum section. Just so ya know.
It is easy to get married their. We wrote to the Govenor to get approval. We needed to set up residency for 10 days prior to the ceremony and pay for a stamp from the Govenors office.
That doesn't sound easy at all. Writing to a governor? Staying there for 10 days BEFORE the wedding? Especially since the OP said she only has a week for vacation, it sounds pretty complicated.
Scotland might be a little far but I had thought of Paris!

While I was planning our wedding, I met a woman whose fiance's family was from France. They wanted to be married there, but it turns out France was one of the places where it's VERY complicated to get married there. She ended up just going there on her honeymoon, because even with family there they couldn't get it worked out.
Now, they might have just not been too bright (I kept mentioning "why not get legally married here, then have a church ceremony there that's not for legal purposes", and they just could not understand what I was saying), and maybe it's simple, but that's the knowledge I have from people who wanted to do it.
I think that it's important to figure out what YOU TWO want. For me, a beach would be awful; the sound of the surf acts as white noise and makes me deaf (I'm already dealing with tinnitus), sand makes me unhappy, the thought of dead jellyfish and live crabs on the beach makes me shudder, and our wedding involved temperatures of 100 degrees and it was all outdoors...so the whole idea of a beach wedding makes me just want to hurt someone. When we do a vow renewal, it'll be indoors.

But that's me.
What do you guys want?
