I'm wondering can you order desserts at any of the TS restaurants to go? Some of the restaurants I really don't want to eat a meal at, but would love to have some of there desserts.

I was at Coral Reef recently and my DD5 became sick right after I ordered the Wave dessert. My husband had them box it up, but they didn't have any plastic utinsils. How crazy is that!
I was eating the Wave with my fingers outside the entrance when the host brought me a REAL fork and told me to keep. He was so sorry that they couldn't provide a plastic one.
So yes, you may be able to order, but don't count on having a fork to go!

We always get our desserts to go. You can get plastic forks at any of the CS resturants. We always pick up extra's and take them back to the room for late night snacks!

I think the OP's question was really - can you just go to a TS restaurant and ask for one of the desserts to be boxed up to go (and then pay for it, of course!)? I don't think the OP was planning to have the entire meal at the TS - just get a dessert to go.

This is a great question! I've wondered the same thing!

Not as crazy as you think. Disney restaurants generally don't do "to go" because the kitchen capacity can only handle dine-ins. Sure, they'll pack up doggy bags, but most likely they expect the diner to not be eating the item right outside the restaurant but back home, or in the room.

We were on the dining plan last year when we went to Disney, and some places forced dessert on us, even if we didn't want it!!! We had tons of chocolate chip cookies that no one ate at the end of the trip.

I know what you mean - I have the worst sweet-tooth in the world! But what desserts are you thinking about and at what restaurants? Some of the TS restaurants' desserts in Epcot are available at their CS restaurants - like in France. For cheaper too!

I have asked about getting a take-out meal while in the World, when I couldn't get walk-up at one of my favorite restaurants, and was told that they couldn't enter the order without a table number. Don't know if that's true by that's what the check-in girl said.

But nobody said you can't make a reservation at that restaurant and just order dessert! Look on the Dining Review at the wonderful adventure of Mister Disney & Mr. D's K-Man dining on just dessert in France. Kindred spirits!

A few years ago so many people on here was talking about how they got the grapefruit cake from the Brown Derby at the bakery right next door but that if the bakery wasn't open you could walk into the Brown Derby and ask the host for the cake to go.

So we were in the park one day and I wanted some grapefruit cake, sure enough the bakery was already closed so I walked into the restaurant to see if I could get some to go and the host was really rude about it. He acted like it was the most rediculous thing that I would even ask. He said he had to ask the manager and the manager came out and didn't have any problems with it, she was very nice. I waited out in the lobby and a waiter brought it out to me. I paid him and gave him a tip and was on my way.

So yes, you can do it but be prepared for an attitude. I only asked them because so many on here said they had done it and never acted like it was a problem. It may be something they don't really want to do but will if a guest asks in order to keep them happy. I personally won't ever do it again. It wasn't like the restaurant was busy either, I never would have done it during a peak meal time.

Yeah, that is what I was meaning.

Never really thought about the dessert ADR. I was looking at a couple of different places. One in particular was Coral Reef.

Sorry that you got an attitude, but glad you got the cake in the end. I think I might just try and walking up to a restaurant of two and see what happens.

Thanks everyone for you responses. ;)

generaly Id say the answer is no... certainly we didnt do it at the R&C anyway.

The kitchen and also the servers are busy enough without dealing with take away guests, thats not part of their job. They may do it on a very rare occasion but generally the answer would be no. Not all of the deserts can be prepared to go, even for restaurant diners... for example the apple crumble which is served in a ceramic dish. We were not allowed to take a box and tip the crumble in, because it would ruin the integrity of the dish (im sure thats the phrase the chef used)
the best deserts are at the france bakery anyway!! :D

Take out used to be very easy from just about any WDW restaurant. Once they started with the DDP, they really cracked down. I now find it's a fight, and often an unpleasant one, to take out from anywhere. I don't understand the comment that the kitchen and waiters don't have time or energy to deal with takeout. I suppose that might be the case if everyone were coming in wanting only to take out dessert. But, I really think it has more to do with DDP. So many people on the plan and so much more utilization of the restaurants than there used to be.

We still take out breakfast from a restaurant at the DVC we like to stay at, which restaurant shall remain nameless because they no longer do it officially. Sometimes, it's not too bad, other times it's a fight. I don't see why. I wait for a table, I order two full meals, they pack them up and I leave. I leave a generous tip on the full amount (don't even use my DDP discount) of the bill. The waitress is done with me very quickly, never has to come back to see if I want more coffee, dessert, etc., etc. When I take out, I'm much less work than if I eat in!

Go figure.
