Hi Everyone :goodvibes

I'm a DCL bride (Disney Dream; CC October 2012), who is hoping you could give me a bit of a perspective on a decision I need to make by Monday.

My fiancé and I have decided we'd like to host a dessert party on the Saturday before the cruise leaves as a welcome event for our guests. That particular date is in the midst of the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, so DP locations are limited to SC at GF or Fantasmic at DHS. It's too far out for my planner to tell me if Fantasmic will be scheduled for that night (they won't know until June or July), but SC is available. Now, I need to decide whether to enter into contract at SC, or go for Fantasmic...

DF and I LOVE Fantasmic, and would really prefer that option. The cruise has fireworks (bucineer blast) on the night of our wedding, so we felt that Fantasmic would be a different and unique in-park experience for our guests. But there's a risk if we go for the Fantasmic option, there might not be a showing that night, and by the time I know that, SC will most likely not be available.

Should I go with the more secure option and book SC (planner says we could possibly change to Fantasmic later on if it's still available when the show schedule is released)? Or is Fantasmic worth the risk?

I think we're leaning toward booking SC, because it would be disappointing to not have a DP at all (especially since we have over half our guests travelling from Australia). But I was just hoping some of you lovely people could share your experiences/ advice to help me have confidence in that decision.

Thanks so much for your time! :)

If I were you, I would book sago cay because from your guest's perspective a DP is a phenomenal, uniquely disney experience, and they don't know about fantastic or that it was an option.

ETA: Also, have you talked to your planner about the possibility of booking SCP and then switching to Fantasmic if it becomes an option? I imagine with Illuminations DPs not allowed, it wouldn't be too hard to find someone else to go to SCP.

Sounds like a good plan to me—if they'll let you switch to Fantasmic! later, why not lock up Sago Cay now just in case? :thumbsup2

I agree with Carrie and the previous poster. Definitely book SC now and then change if you can later. The best part about doing a wishes DP is that there are no park fees. I am doing mine at the marina and just paying to pipe in the wishes music. I can not wait!

We had our reception dinner/dessert party at Fantasmic, my trip report my be useful for you to read.

Personally, I'd wait on Fantasmic! It was a truly magical experience that isn't possible anywhere else. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be having a show that night and I don't think SC can offer what Fantasmic! can. There are pictures on my TR and only you can make the decision, but I can say that you'll LOVE Fantasmic! as a venue and that they definitely go above and beyond because they don't get many DP's or events at HS (because most do Wishes or Illuminations).

It is very unlikely (in my opinion) that Fantasmic! won't run on your chosen date.

Thanks so much, Everyone!! I really appreciate your input--it's helped a lot! :goodvibes I think DF and I have decided to go ahead and reserve SC, and then fingers crossed that Fantasmic will be available later on.

MrRomance, your Fantasmic DP was incredible!! I so enjoyed reading your report! I really hope it works out, and we are able to have an event like that :)

Thanks again, Everyone! DIS brides/Grooms are such a wonderfully supportive group!
