Hello all...I have a reservation for the dessert party on 11/22. Just wanted to know what I can expect and if it is kid friendly or not - I have a 12 year old, which I know will be fine, but also 4 and 2 year olds. I am kind of second guessing my decision to go...Thanks!

I took my 3 year old and he loved it! He was very tired by the end (the fireworks were long past his bedtime). I really liked being able to sit while waiting for the fireworks to start.

We went to the dessert party last Nov. and it WAS kid-friendly and a great spot to sit for Wishes, BUT, my kids REALLY did not like the desserts! I had to agree with them, and for that price, we won't be going back. The desserts were things like coffee flavored, or mango and my boys thought they were the worst desserts they'd ever tasted. Sadly, even the chocolate chip cookies and rice krispie bars weren't good!
That said, I'm glad we did it once. Never again though!

The dessert party at Magic Kingdom is more kid friendly than the new 3D Dessert Discovery at Epcot during the Food & Wine Fest.
Epcot's is pricier - it includes cordials and spiked punch and lemonade and coffee (regular is also available). The deserts are also more adult oriented with drunken donuts, compote toppings for the hot desserts and large sized servings.

We went for my son's birthday, and were very disappointed. When making the rez, I had asked the CM if there were special requests allowed (my son has sensory issues and will not go near vanilla or chocolate). He does, however, live for apple pie/tarts. She told me there was sure to be enough for him to choose from. There was not (and not an apple item on the spread).
For the most part, they put out high-end desserts; I would have preferred kiddie offerings (cupcakes, good cookies, candy, etc.) too!!

Nice place to watch the fireworks, albeit a very expensive one...

We went in June and my 8yr old and 2 yr old loved it! There were plenty of things they enjoyed including brownies, cupcakes and cookies. For me, it was nice not to have to jockey for position for the fireworks and the desserts were nice treat! We are going back this December.

We went in August 2009 and my 4 almost 5 year old loved the whole thing. I agree with PP it was very nice to have a place to sit and watch the fireworks and not fight for a spot. My son made quite a few trips to the dessert bar so he found plenty to eat.:)

We went July 2010 and while what you eat and drink is definitely not worth the money you also pay for the location. My dd12 and ds9 were thrilled with it. I found there were many kid-friendly desserts and drinks. Rice crispy treats, cookies, donuts, chocolate covered strawberries as well as large platters of fruit (melon, watermelon, raspberries, pineapple). Milk was also available for kids as well as ice tea and lemonade. They pack the tables closely together so there is no room for the younger ones to run around. However, it is a dining location and it should be treated as one (did get bumped a few times by kids allowed to run free by their parents):confused3 When the fireworks start people line up against the rails and the view is fantastic. I think your kids will really enjoy it but maybe afternoon naps will be needed as it is usually a late night event.

Thank you all for your advice. I think that I have decided to cancel. When I booked, they told me that it would be standing room only, and I am not sure that I want to brave it with the little ones being in such small quarters.

Took my 7 year old and she found plenty to eat that she liked. The party isn't that long, and there is no entertainment until the fireworks, but during that time, they can eat and before you know it, the fireworks start.
