I love the idea of an Epcot dessert party, and want to have one at my wedding but I wonder if it would be better to have it the night before as a Rehearsal/Welcome Party or as part of the actual wedding day? I think if I had it on wedding day, it would make for some beautiful pictures in our wedding clothes and would be very unique part of the wedding day. But I also having it the day before would spread the celebration out a bit more, and also might be easier in terms of transportation and such. I am planning on having a wedding pavillion ceremony and a grand floridian reception at the whitehall room. What do you think would be better? Thanks!

I wonder how in the world you have the 2009 buffet dessert menus, and part of me doesn't even want to know! Speed aside, I am just glad that you HAVE the answers. Thank you for being there for the rest of us, especially for lurkers like me, and your dedication inspires me to be there for other DISbrides after I have my Disney wedding.

I am going through the exact thing! Actually we really wanted the dessert party the day of the wedding, but I wanted a 5pm ceremony more, so we can't do the DP on that day. We are also thinking of doing it the day before as a welcome party.

Yes - lots of people have had dessert parties as their rehearsal dinner or welcome party. All the same rules and minimums apply, but none of the costs count toward your Disney minimum expenditure. Still, it is a great way to spread out the festivities or be able to have one when it doesn't fit into your wedding-day schedule.

Usually there is no problem customizing the menu, and there is a limited selection of hot and cold food you can add to make it more dinner-like or cocktail-party like. There just may be restrictions depending on how far the site you choose is from a kitchen.

We are actually doing it as our rehearsal dinner!! We are doing it at Sago Cay so we don't have to worry about anyone getting into the park and I think it is a great option that you don't have to be sucked into some of the minimums that are required with all the hassel of transportations, etc with the inpark events! Not to mention The GF is right next to the WP which makes it QUITE convenient.. It is a surprise to all the guests though!

I picked things I liked from the petit classics and florida style menu and got a custom price ($22/pp).

Bowl of Tiramisu
Mini Cheesecake
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Fruit Custard Tarts
Petit Key West Lime Tarts
Fruit Punch, Coffees and Teas

Yes, you can pick and choose. DF picked a menu he liked (which isnt on the 2009 menus) and I picked a menu I liked. We then took off the items we didn't liked and combined the rest.
If we had to choose, we would have went with Petit Classics which is $28. Our custom menu is at $32. Not bad for custom.

So I guess I'm a bit slow on the whole dessert party thing... I haven't paid a lot of attention to this topic bc I didn't think we were going to have one but now since DF's parents offered to pay for us all to go to the Hoop Dee Doo now my parents are thinking of hosting a welcome cool1: so I thought a DP may be great (we're paying for the wedding/wedding dinner/wishes cruise). I am going to see them in 2 days so I need to get as much info ASAP to sell my dad on the idea before he changes his mind So the DP menu is a great start... now my ?'s are...
1) which venues are the best for a group of 20-25 people? Do any of the venues have bad views?
2) since we won't be in our wedding attire will they waive the transport issue?... I thought I remembered reading somewhere you can walk back as a group
3) how much is it for table set up and decorations? Is there anywhere the options for this are posted?
4) I also thought I saw a contact person for this that was not DFTW... anyone have this info?

I think we might go for the custom option too, provided they still do this. We get to book our DP in just under a month!!

And just one more question, this menu says it expires September 09, our wedding is 21st October, so will we already have our prices and menus locked in by then?

They used to do waffle cones for sundaes, so they could probably get you those, but I'm not sure about actual waffles. I tried to get breakfast food (including Mickey waffles) served at our upcoming dessert party and was told they would have to set up a special on-site kitchen to the tune of $800! But that could be b/c of my location (UK Pubside, between UK Lochside and the Rose & Crown).

Due to your party's size, they will probably only offer you Morocco and the UK terraces, although they might let you do French Island Arm (Rue de Paris) or Italy West Plaza (next to the Isola).

This depends on your which venue you have. If it's too far from the International Gateway, they will make you use transportation.

All in-park events must use the WDW FLorist.

What you do is type your search terms into Google followed by this phrase:

You might be thinking of Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares. They're not on the menu anymore but they can still make them. We're having them in 2 weeks! Mmmmmmmm....

So if we try and tailor for $22 pp I think we'll get about 5 desserts, so I was trying to picture if that means one of each of the 5 items pp, does that make sense? Basically I'm trying to establish if it's enough, 5 desserts pp!

Ok, this is kind of what Df and I did. Like I said previously, we each picked a menu. Mine was Petit Classics and his was something else that I can't find anymore. We took out stuff we could live without and combined.

Here is our menu for $32 a person...
Chocolate and Caramel Brownies
Chocolate Chip and Sugar Cookies
Crisped Rice Treats
Mini Cheesecakes, Chocolate Eclairs, Tiramisu and Cream Horns

So that puts us at 9 desserts per person which might be over kill. I have the cookies and the rice crispies in there cause we have a boatload of kids that will be there.

Everyone keeps going on about the chocolate peanutbutter marshmallow squares. Sounds yummy. Do I need to switch something out? I am a chocoholic.

I suggest nixing the sugar cookies, which are pretty unremarkable. If that still isn't enough, I'd throw the chocolate chip cookies overboard too. They aren't bad, but they're not anything to write home about. The kids won't miss 'em! The Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares, on the other hand.....

I felt the same way when I found out about it! They really should post it on the Tech board so everyone knows....
