Dessert Party at Morocco....

I am an Intimate Bride and am having a Dessert Party on the 28th at UK Lower for 20 people with tables and chairs set up. I was told that if I had less than 20 then I would have to choose between Morocco & Japan, but if I had 20 or more I could also have UK Lower and a few other locations. Maybe the rules have changed since I booked.

Hi there! Would you mind sharing how much you are paying for your dessert reception and an estimated breakdown of each fee? Like how much in rental, viewing, food, table/chair setup etc.

Would help those of us out that are interested in hosting a dessert party :) Thanks so much in advance if you can do it!

there is a viewing fee of 12.50 per person.

you also chose a menu and that adds to the price but the lowest price package is approx. 18.00 per person

I think for lower Uk there is a $200.00 rental fee and I think $90.00 set up fee for tables and chairs

there is also a host fee of $90.00 and you need one host for every 50 guests that you have.

So for 20 people you are looking at around $1,000.00 give or take what options you choose and if your guests have park tickets so you can avoid the viewing fee etc. Hope that Helps! :goodvibes

You also need transportation backstage to Epcot if you want to wear your dress. You can have a town car for abour $25.00 for a one way trip or you can use the 4 hour limo service provided in your intimate package to pick up and drop of yourself and even guests.

I was quoted a fee of like $480 for the transportation backstage so that I could wear my dress after our vow renewal. We did not end up doing the Illuminations Party but I was not offerred any other cheaper options for transportation.

Also, the $12.50 viewing fee is waived if your guests use their own park tickets. If they have a park ticket and have already been to a park on the day of your party then they can use their ticket and save you the viewing fee.

Skylarr,

You are a genious...in all my stressing I never thought about increasing my number beyond 20 people!! I guess the extra guests just "could not show up". ;) ;) Anyone want to come to a dessert party!! :p

Thanks!! :grouphug:

DH and I are always available to fill some spots...just let me know the date :cheer2:

and just want to mention its not only intimate brides who have to deal with disneys minimums....we had three invisible guests at our custom wedding to meet the 100 person min. at Italy and AA....

For 20 Guests "Child in You Menu" Uk Lower

Food $498.42
Set up $79.88
Venue Rental $213.00
Viewing Fee $12.50 per person, if guest does not have tkts $266.25
Transportation (Charter Bus) $436.00

Total including Tax & Service Charge $1,493.55

I also was only given the option of a charter bus if I wanted to wear my dress, or coming in through the International Gateway which would be a long walk in a Wedding Dress. I believe that customs are given other transportation options (not sure).

:thumbsup2 Hi everyone, this seems to be a hot topic today. I am glad that people have expressed their feelings towards Intimates having more choices when it comes to dessert parties. What I can not understand is that although our parties are smaller it is still revenue for the "Mouse"

Anyway, I am not going to let it rain on our parade!! I think instead of inviting invisible guests, I should invite DisBoard brides that can come and join us!!! After all you have become like family to me answering all my million questions and offering love and support when things get stressful!!

What do ya'll think??!! :lovestruc

How sweet. You really are a princess! I am having an intimate and will be sticking to the under 20 for the ceremony, but I will have more that that for our dessert party. Not a lot more, just more than 20...The children who are not invited to the ceremony will certainly be invited to the Dessert Party. I do like the idea of inviting some DIS Brides to share....We share so much here, you are so right seaprincess.

Thoughts to ponder... popcorn::

Have to work on my lists again.

Thanks for the info!

I just wanted to add something I learned since recently booking an Intimate DP at Morocco...it sounded like if you were an Intimate and wanted to do a DP you had to do it through your EM. We tried to contact EPCOT catering ourselves but kept eventually getting sent back to DFTW where I confirmed that they do it so they can combine the two contracts, among other reasons I'm sure. I'm even doing mine the day before the wedding. My EM made it clear that the Intimate rules still applied too - only 20 guests allowed. I'm not sure if the rule would change if you had 25 or said you had 25 just to get another location. Still, even with 25 there is a chance you will be bumped from that location if a bigger party comes around. So we just dealt with Morocco and understand that it's only an hour, people will be up socializing and probably would want to stand for the fireworks. We have one elderly family member that we plan to get a wheelchair for so we'll know she'll have a place to sit.

This is most distressing. I have children who will not be invited to the wedding, but are certainly welcome to come to the dessert party. Hmmmmmmm, back to the drawing board.

i really think it depends on who you talk to! I had an intimate wedding planned for next November (and it got canceled but that is a whole nother story) and I was planning on doing almost the same thing you suggested and I was having the lower UK and 25 guests. My planner did make sure that I understood that I could not exceed the maximum guest count at the wedding but the dessert party was fine.

DFTW is very inconsistent in what they say and to whom they say it... you will learn that quickly if you haven't already.

Does anyone have the prices for the Italy Isola, are are they the same as all of the other locations? I was originally expecting around 80 guests but my mom just spoke to some of our relatives in California & Italy and it ends up that they will be flying in for the weekend.. Ech. I was hoping to keep everything small, I moved the wedding to Disney to avoid inviting the 300 people my mother wanted me to but it looks like that is not going to be possible..

Also, does anyone have a list of the different dessert packages?

Thanks! :)

Yeah, please don't take my word as actual fact, but I wanted to put that out there to make sure people actually discussed it with their EM before they got too excited. This board has been awesome for ideas, but I've learned that just because I've heard/seen someone else do something that doesn't mean I'll be able to do the same thing.

Butterfly Bride, here are some pictures of the Italy Isola. :)

Looks like things have changed in the FTW dept - again! For our IL dessert party with 20 guests we were only given the option of French Island Arm. While we were allowed tables and chairs, the view was quite obstructed, which we weren't told. While Epcot may not be able to do a full table/chairs set up in Morocco, if you express health concerns to your wedding planner, I am sure they will be able to secure one or two seats for guests needing them. Have you received a reason why they won't set up chairs?

I don't think your guests would mind the benches, though. I know I would be content with the high tables and benches for seating, if I was a guest having the opportunity for such an amazing event. I have been to 3 IL dessert parties, including my own and have not sat at any of them. Other guests may sit, of course, but while chatting and enjoying all of the yummy goodies, it did not seem a long time to be standing.

Hopefully you all are able to find good solutions and have magical dessert parties!

Actually, when I mentioned the guests with disabilities to my EM, I was told that we might suggest they get an eletric scooter. My father is much too stubborn and proud to confine himself to a electric scooter. I think for men it's a pride thing. :confused3

Lat night I was sharing the information from this thread with my husband. It is sad that Disney makes so many concessions for the physically challanged, and when I asked about setting up two seats for my parents who can not stand they can not accomodate. I am even willing to pay. I know the ledge is there, but when you pay close to $1500.00 for a dessert party, 2 chairs should not be a major inconvenience.

It is amazing that we all have gotten so many different answers from people at DFTW who all work in one department.

Anyway....food for thought!!

I'll just have to wait until it gets closer to actually being able to book to worry about this stuff...I have enough time for the rules to change, revert back, change again, and maybe even revert back before I get to have this shindig! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I hope everything works out for those of you planning right now. :grouphug:

Wow! There have been so many dessert party threads recently! I got these venue fees from one. Sorry I don't remember which one it was. Does anyone know if these include set up fees or if those are extra? Plus you need a park host ($90, one per 50 guests).

Morocco $175
Upper or Lower UK $200
France (Upper, Lower, or Arm) $200
Italy Isola $575
It didn't list Japan.

I would like to know how many people for each venue (mins and max). Anyone? :confused3 I project that I will have 50-65. I know Italy is 100+ guests. Then I only hear of smaller parties using the other ones. I have to check the other thread -- it may have my answer.

Here is a link to a thread with menus from Epcot and MGM. They are long so I am not going to post them here. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199804

HTH.

For some reason, the only space we were given as an option was the Italy Isola...and we have 20 people. Also, the venue fee for us was going to be $250. You really have to call people yourself, there is no consistency!

Tinkerbell--Double check with your EM...you might actually be talking about Italy West Wing and not Italy Isola...different areas. Italy Isola is minimum of 100 guests...Italy West Wing is minimum of 20 guests. :joker:
