Is it possible to go to California Grill just for dessert? Or is that frowned upon? I'd love to take the kids (10 and 8) there for a magical evening, but nothing on the menu (other than dessert) jumps out at me.

I'm assuming by "a magical evening" that you want to see the fireworks. I'd suggest going up early, eating dessert, and getting a receipt, then use the receipt to go back up for the fireworks from the deck. Or settle for a table that is not by the windows, order your dessert and wait for the fireworks, then go outside to watch them. You may have to go early for a window table and hold it longer than you would like to in order to just eat dessert.

I totally agree with this. 200%. :thumbsup2

I personally wouldnt go to cali grill just for desserts. I might consider going right when they open, but not after. Thats just me.

So nothing on the menu appeals to you? not even the flat bread? its like pizza. and VERY good! My son loved it! :goodvibes

If you're thinking you want a magical evening involving fireworks and dessert, try checking out the Wishes Dessert Party! You get the best of both worlds and don't need to worry about eating dinner! :goodvibes

We're not doing the parks this trip so can't do that, but thanks for the suggestion!

I guess should say that the entrees at places like Flying Fish and Narcoossee's appeal to me more, so we'd like to dinner at one of those places instead. But I haven't been to Cali Grill since I was a kid and have memories I'd love to relive! Plus once we've eaten a meal we never have room for dessert. But I could see us sharing a flat bread and dessert and being perfectly content.

Thanks for the tip! I'm not set on getting a table by the window, and going outside to watch them would be fine (is there an observation deck or something and do they pipe in the music?). We're not doing the parks this trip (our first trip as DVC owners and just want to enjoy the resorts) so it would be a way to add in some Disney magic. I remember going to Cali Grill when I was a kid and feeling all grown up. I think my kids (DS10 and DD8) are at good ages to enjoy that!
