We wanted to go to Tony's for the Lady and Tramp theme and not so much for the food (our budget doesn't allow for many table service, and have read not-so-great reviews). Is it a big no no to make an ADR and just go for dessert?

I don't have an answer, but it's a good question. I've been dying to try the grapefruit cake at the Brown Derby!:cake:

I really want to try those cream cheese wontons at Yak n Yeti but don't think I will care for the entree offerings. I would love to know the answer to this one as well.

PS....I have to say I was not dissapointed with Tony's in December. I was expecting just so so food with the reviews I had been reading but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. All three of us enjoyed out meal and I would not hesitate to go back there again!

We've never had a bad meal at Tony's. Great atmosphere!

This is just my personal opinion but I think that dessert only ADRs should only be made for non-peak hours. I don't think its appropriate for someone to make a dessert only ADR for an hour before WISHES time at Cali Grill, but 1/2 after WISHES - no problem.

As for Disney's take, I've never heard an offical policy but I have read posts by people who've been fine with desserts only and posts from people who have not been seated when they said they were there for desserts only

I would like to know the answer to this too. I saw the "Celebration Dessert Sampler For Two" pic on another thread, and I would like to go to GF Cafe for that dessert. Surely WDW wouldn't mind. By time you purchase desserts and drinks (particularly if alcoholic), you could rack up quite a tab.

Disney resturants are just like any other resturants. You make a reservation and can order what ever you want. We spit meals, order kids meals, order just soup, only order dessert. We have done it all and no one has ever said a thing.

I would not waste the money on Tonys for dessert...it is ok but nothing special and there are just a few pics of the Lady and the Tramp...the place is very loud too

I would go for a full dinner but not just dessert

I thought you might enjoy seeing this. This was the Chef's signature cheesecake dessert at Tony's in February 08. The Lady and the Tramp picture is actually caramel drizzle, not a printed design on the plate!

OT, but I'd love to see that pic. If you happen upon it again, please let me know where to find it. :flower3:

Per your request, here it is. I don't think my DH and I could eat this after having a full meal. I would need a separate ADR to properly enjoy this. We do that at home sometimes--just go out for dessert. I certainly don't see why Disney would frown on that!

I don't feel it's a no-no but I think it'd be fantastic if the reservation system allowed for such a reservation to be marked accordingly. I assume a dessert only ressie table would turn faster than a full meal one.

:)

just had the grapefruit cake last week and thought it was absolutely horrible! But if you haven't had it, you need to try it, you may like it.

My daughters made a couple of dessert only ADR's this past trip and it was no problem at all. When they called for the ADR's they told the CM on the phone that it would be for a snack/dessert only and they said that it was not a problem at all.

Hmm, true, but I wonder how many people would show up and say "I know our ADR says that we're only here for dinner, but we've decided we want the whole meal." That could cause major over-booking/back-up issues.
