I gain a pound or two just looking at the Southern Cooking website, but they have some great things on there for sure.Peruse the Better Homes and Gardens website or old magazines. Same for Southern Cooking, Downeaster, etc. Always holiday dessert recipes there.
From the Baking thread; this red-white-and-blue fireworks cake is awesome!!

Thank you for the shout out!!!!
For 4th of July I am going to attempt this flag cake!!! Wish me luck.
Not going to attempt the outside decorating as my skills are not at that level but will try to make the actual Flag cake.

Love this idea!!I think you are going to see lots of flag cakes. What if you put a twist on it and did a flag trifle instead? Pound cake chunks, vanilla filling (I'd make creme patisserie but you could use pudding), strawberries and blueberries, whipped cream on top.
OR... blueberry/cherry/raspberry/blackberry pie. Pick a red and a blue and go with it!
What about homemade ice cream sandwiches. I would buy the ice cream and make the cookies—chocolate chip is popular but you could do M&M cookies using red, white and blue M&M’s. I would then roll the edge in red, white and blue sprinkles/jimmies. Something different although might be tough to keep frozen if you are outdoors.
