I love desserts. We're planning on spending 2 days at Epcot and I know that there are tons of pastries/cakes/cookies in every "country" What is your favorite dessert at Epcot. I loved the beaver tails, but I just found out that they are not offered anymore. :( They were my favorite treat last year!!!! :flower:

My favorite country for dessert would have to be France.
If you are looking for a quick, snack sized treat, I would go for crepe. They sell it in a little cart not too far from the entrance to France's restaurant. If you are heading to France for your main meal anyway, I'd try the creme brulee.

our favorite desserts at epcot are
mexico - fried icecream (although they didnt have it there on our jan 04 visit)
germany - caramel apples or dark chocolate bars sold in the shop
italy - cannoli
france - crepe or chocolate mousse (very rich)
morocco - baklava

I love the school bread at Norway's bakery. I find it a wonderful dessert, not so much a bread.

Also, take a stroll through France's bakery and choose any of the yummy desserts there. Our favorite is the plain cheesecake and the sacristain. Everything always looks so good, though!

Totally agree with France and Norway, but I love the apple struedel in Germany, too!!! :goodvibes

Got to vote for France too. We love the pastry shop (Boulangerie Patisserie?). It's around in the courtyard leading into the Kidcot stop and shop. They have a great selection of yummy decadent desserts. You can't go wrong here. They also have ham and cheese croissants and quiches in the Boulangerie, which I think are one of the best food values on WDW property.

WE love the "pretzels" at Norway....i think they might be called Kringla or something similar. They are like a sweet croissant like dough topped with an almond glaze and nuts....they are wonderful!

The french bakery!!! Yum!!!! Has awesome desserts. Also my DH loves the crepe cart that is across from the entrance of Chefs. They chocolate or strawberry crepes last time we were there.

My very most favorite are the Cloudberry Horns in Norway. Makes my mouth water just thiinking about them.

Thanks all!!! I'll have to try the crepes and school bread especially!!!! I can't wait!!! :flower:

I am a dessert freak myself!!! My favorite are the sweet pretzels at Norway with the glaze and almonds on top! :cheer2:

One dessert you don't hear about much, but we LOVE LOVE LOVE, and have to get every time we're in Epcot, is the Black Forest Cake at Sommerfest in Germany - layers of moist chocolate cake filled with lots of whipped cream and cherries and dark chocolate shavings on top Yummmm! I think it's about $3-$4, but is a big piece to share :lovestruc

Here's the recipe:

Black Forest Cake
Biergarten
Germany Pavillion, Epcot

INGREDIENTS FOR CAKE:
5 eggs
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 egg yolks
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
3/4 c. cake flour, sifted
6 tbsp. cocoa, unsweetened (use a dutch brand if possible, e.g droste)

PROCEDURE FOR CAKE:
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 3 8-inch round cake pans and line bottoms with waxed paper. In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine eggs, egg yolks, and sugar. Beat until thick and light. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda. Gradually fold flour mixture into egg mixture. Add vanilla extract last and pour batter into 3 cake pans. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until tops spring back when pressed lightly with your finger. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes before removing from pan.

SYRUP:
1/3 c. water
3 tbsp. kirsch (cherry liqueur)
1/2 c. sugar

PROCEDURE FOR SYRUP:
Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Remove mixture immediately and let cool. Stir in kirsch.

FILLING AND FROSTING:
1 1/4 c. cherry pie filling
2 1/2 C. heavy whipping cream, whipped
3 tbsp. kirsch
340g dark chocolate, shaved

PROCEDURE FOR FILLING AND FROSTING:
Mix together cherry pie filling and kirsch. Put 1 layer of cake on a flat plate. Brush top of first layer with syrup. Spread a layer of cherry mixture over syrup, spreading evenly. Add second layer of cake and spread with more syrup. Add another layer of cherry mixture, then a layer of whipped cream on top of that. Top with third layer of cake and brush with any remaining syrup. Frost top of cake with a thick layer of whipped cream, leaving sides exposed to show layers, and decorate with additional cherries. Sprinkle entire cake with shaved chocolate and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Thanks seahunt for the great recipe. I think I'll make that cake this weekend!!!! It sounds YUMMY!!!! I'll also have to try it when we go to epcot.

I love the Marvellous pastry at the French Bakery. It's a chocolate mousse in a tart shell with a hard piece of dark chocolate in the center and a strawberry on top.

We had a great dessert sampler at Alfredo's. It had mini-versions of the tiramasu, cannolini, kids' ladybug dessert, and some other great chocolatey treats!

Another vote for the pastry shop in France and for the School Bread in Norway (had that for the first time last trip....it was awesome). :wave2:

The chocolate mousse at the bakery in France is rich & delicious. Also love the elephant ears there.

I have never met a desset I didn't get alone with at Epcot. I like stopping in at the Fountainview Cafe atleast once a trip for an Espresso and a small dessert. Between the coffee and the sugar, I could clean Epcot all by myself!

Good Stuff!!
