Does anyone know whether the counter service restaurants offer any alternatives to dessert on the DP for people who are diabetic? Has anyone ever inquired about this?

there is usually a fruit choice, a sugar free dessert and some have reported being able to get a second drink (bottle of water) in lieu of dessert

As the PP said they usually have a sugar free option or fruit - I have never been offered a second drink myself, but that's okay! :) While we were at Cosmic Ray's they had a sugar free brownie, sugar free yogurt and grapes or carrots.

Unfortunately, sometimes just being sugar-free isn't what it takes to fit a diabetic eating plan. Many diabetics "balance" their blood sugar by monitoring carbohydrate intake and not just sugar. The sugar-free brownie is still packed with carbs... as, unfortunately, the yogurt can be also.

I've never been allowed to subsitute anything for dessert. I have nut allergies. One counter service restaurant only had hagen daz ice cream bars that were covered in chocolate and almonds and when I told them about my allergy they pretty much said "oh well".
