I know it just opened yesterday, but wondering if anyone has yet ridden the Despicable Me simulator ride? I'm super susceptable to motion sickness and thru these boards have been warned about FJ and Simpsons. Just wondering how this new one is? Thanks!

From what I understand it is a 3-D version of Jimmy Neutron where the ride vehicle move, tilts, banks, etc. in sync with what's on the movie screen to simulate travel through an imaginary environment. It's probably similar to the Simpsons.

I am prone to motion sickness and rode Jimmy Newtron. I didn't look as they were zooming through the streets. I was fine for all the other things. :thumbsup2

It's where the Jimmy Neutron ride used to be, so if you got motion sickness during that, I wouldn't recommend it. Personally, I am not prone to motion sickness, but the Simpson's ride was terrible. I had to sit down for a while after I rode it.
If you didn't know, in the Jimmy Neutron ride, you sat in a rocketship in front of a large TV screen, not a dome like the Simpsons.
Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

I find that for Simpsons and the former Neutron ride, if I just stopped looking at the screen, and looked around instead, I was fine. It was the stuff I was seeing on the screen that was messing with me, not the actual motion of the ride.

FJ gets me half of the time, and doesn't the other half. I haven't figured out the difference between the times yet. It's got a LOT more motion than those other rides, though.

I can ride Forbidden Journey with little motion sickness. I just close my eyes on the screen parts. Simpsons and Despicable Me is a no go for me. The first time I rode Despicable Me,I had a headache. I was so sick afterwards that I ended up in the bathroom. Thinking it was probably the headache, I rode it again the next day. Same thing happened. It's a cute ride so you might want to try it once.

I have no problems on rollercoasters... but any sort of motion simulation seems to do me in. After my first ride on FJ I had a horrible headache and had to leave the park.

I skip FJ & Simpsons, but was fine on Minion Mayhem.

At Disney I skip Mission: Space & Star Tours.

Thanks for your response! Test Track really did me in! I wouldnt even attempt MS and ST! I got brave and did Soarin' and was so proud of myself! Handled it fine, even tho I had my eyes closed for alot of it!! I have to be really careful! At Disneyland in California I did Matterhorn, because someone in line said it was "nothing"! Boy was I sorry! Ugh!

I always take the non drowsy dramamine before any amusement park and don't have motion sickness issues. Of course before I entered my 40s it was never an issue ;)

I can`t do Simpsons, but can do anything else......but I do want to go on this ride!!

I`m going with non drowsy dramamine this year too, hope it works :thumbsup2

We rode Minion Mayhem when it was first opened for testing - it was a blast.

It's the usual bench-seats that rock and tilt, like Shrek, but not like the Simpsons where they lift you up to the screen and tilt a lot.

There are a lot of "roller coast" and "stopped short" moments, but they're not too bad. I'm a chicken when it comes to being tossed around and I really liked this ride.

Make sure to secure everything and look for dropped items before you leave. DD's iPod fell out of her pocket on the ride and was never heard from again.

Just so you know as well if others want to ride and you don't want to be left out DM:MM does have stationary seats up front. I get really bad motion sickness and this is what I did. I still very much enjoyed everything and felt a part of the ride.

That's very helpful advice - thanks!! I will definitely do that! Do you know if the Simpsons ride has a stationary bench also?

Nope, mainly because it's all one vehicle. You can't ask for a non motion vehicle.
