Desperately wanting to lose weight.

If anything some daily jogging should take that right off and turn into muscle. I still feel like you are making this WAY more trouble then its worth. If you are not comfortable then ok, but please, you are anything but fat.

I can't jog. I have no where to jog. I would do it around my yard, but, I sorta don't have one. :p

And we have a fence in our backyard, with a trampoline, a shed, three dog kennels, and dog crap everywhere.

Get the picture?

I also can't run or anything because there is a sexual harrass..er person down the rode.

5'2 1/2.

but I always say 5'3. :)

You're a good weight

If you were 89 lbs that would, no offense, be really disgusting looking. Take it from a guy's point of view - girls who are that skinny aren't attractive. I'm not trying to make you happy, it's true, and I don't think I know any guys who are truly attracted to that skinny of girls, for the fact that their bodies are boyish.

Your mother and sister are jerks for calling you fat and should be really ashamed of themselves. And of course you're going to eat candy and sweets this time of year, that's like not eating candy on halloween.

Oh, gross. I don't want to be like ninety pounds. I agree with you, that's pretty gross.

I think running is definitely the best/easiest way to get/stay in shape. That's a shame you cannot do so in your neighborhood. Could you run after school or perhaps there is a jogging club at school?? Is there a park you could run in that would be safer than your neighborhood? The one thing I recommend with running is to really push yourself. Decide how far you want to run and do it, do not stop and walk, slow down and pace yourself but don't actually switch to walking. Time how long it takes you and each day or week try to improve on that time.

Maybe you could ask for a gym membership for Christmas??

At home I would think crunches or jogging up and down the stairs would be somewhat helpful.

In regards to eating healthy I recently switched from a very junk oriented diet to a very healthy diet. I don't eat ANY fast food. I also cut out soda for several months and ONLY drank water. I took a liter bottle of water with me in the morning, finished it by lunch, then had another liter in the afternoon. After several months of drinking water with no soda I tried a soda at a restaurant and it tasted gross. So if you force yourself to eat healthier foods for a few months your tastes will change and you will lose the desire to eat junk.

There are lots of tasty snacks you can get but I was not trying to lose weight so I cant really recommend the best things to eat. (Though you can't go wrong with fruits and vegetables)

I think it is good you are conscious about your weight and health at a young age. If you start to work out and eat healthy at a young age those habits will continue into adulthood and it will be easier to maintain the figure you desire.

I'm sure there will be people who tell you that you look fine, you are not fat, etc. Just remember it is YOUR body and if YOU want to look a certain way don't let other people discourage you from doing so!!!

Best of luck!! :goodvibes

I'm all for healthy living and everyone should exercise and eat right, but she's at the age where anorexia starts, and everyone tells anorexics they aren't fat and look fine, but they think "oh it's my body I want to look like a skeleton". She's already got her mother and sister calling her "fat" which is RIDICULOUS. And she's saying she wants to weigh 89 lbs and look like her friend?!?! anorexia red flags.

Trust me you're fine.
I'm shorter than you, weigh more than you, and I think I look fine. Sure not all the time, but I have major mood swings.

I'd just say exercise more, cardio I guess.
Leg exercises = lunges, squats
Try to eat good...

This way you'll probably maintain your weight. Which would be a good thing in the long run, as you are going to get taller.

Cassidy...NO! You are NOT fat.
107 pounds is skinny. You're young, and it's unhealthy for you to go on a diet. I mean if you were over weight it would be a different story, but you are definatly NOT.

Grr, you guys. I don't want to lose weight just to look good. I just want to feel comfortable, and I'm not right now.

And about the diet thing, it's not like I'm gonna starve myself. I'm just going to eat healthier, and I'm not going to have as much junk anymore.

I don't think I'm fat. I just think I look a little..buldgey in places, like my thighs.

I noticed there is alot of cellulite on my thighs. I, just a few hours ago, sat up against the wall and measured my thighs. There's probably about three-four inches of fat that is visible.

Ick. :headache:

If that was gone, I would be completely satisfied.
I just want to focus on my legs for now. But really have no clue how to get rid of the fat, it's hard.

i feel the exact same way.!
i just want to feel more comfortable and i don't right now.

Run in place in your room.

Or, go outside and jump around on your trampoline.

My best advice is don't diet, but eat healthier. Exercise atleast 30 minutes every day. Maybe ask for a subscription to cosmogirl or seventeen magazine for Christmas? I use to do the workouts in those and I lost a lot of weight in my stomach and thigh area. :)

I think I kinda get where you're coming from Cass.

I'm 14, 5ft1 and weigh about 95pounds and I know i'm not fat but I eat 3 times the amount of normal people xD Seriously if you offer me food, i'll take it and if my friends try to throw food in the bin I end up snatching it out of their hands and finishing it for them. You know you read those food diaries of like the worlds heaviest person? Well I swear for some meals i'm not far off what they eat xD I'm not fat, but because I eat so much and I do so little excercise (my excercise= horse-riding[don't you dare try to argue on that not being excercise], phys ed lessons and randomly running and jumping around the stables and my house [which I do a lot]) I feel it. And I have thunder thighs, kinda, it's all muscle but it looks yukky because they're disproportionate. Anways yeh is that like where you're kinda coming from you know you're not fat but you kinda like still feel it because of what you eat and you want to become healthy, not loose weight but be healthy?

I think you're at a perfect weight right now. But as for getting healthier, I totally see where you're coming from because all I eat is junk and I want to eat better as well. I reccomend searching flickr for "laptop lunches" or "bento boxes". They have really tasty looking lunches that are good for you. Also, I would either lookup workouts on tv or youtube or something, or use the ones they give you in most teen magazines. Can you use your trampoline? If you can, if you jump on that for a while your legs can get a pretty good workout.

I second getting a subscription to Seventeen magazine (I'd also say CosmoGirl but it's folding). I still get Seventeen. It's a good magazine and has some good advice in it. :)

If you want to burn off that fat (trust me, I have the same problem. I am completely satisfied with my body except for my upper thighs and lower abdomen) you should focus on cardio.

Anything that gets your heart rate up. And you should be doing about 30 minutes of it a day for it to become effective to the point of seeing results.

Weight lifting and such will help build muscle, but it will only do so under the fat, thus making the "bulge" bigger. That's why cruches aren't the best way to burn stomach fat. Cardio is the single most effective way to burn fat.

Eating healthy is something people should do at every age. I drink soda (usually coke zero products) or I flavour the water in my Nalgene with powdered mixes because I like having a little flavor in my drinks (this was the problem for me when I tried cutting out soda). Try dried fruits (mmmm...dried mango flavoured pineapple...) and veggies. I've lost weight just from packing my own lunch for school (veggies instead of mystery meat ;) ).

Good luck in losing the fat. I can understand being at a healthy weight, but having parts of your body you dislike.

first of all-----stop stressing!!!!!! take some time for yourself everyday and do yoga or listen to music.

second-depending on how tall you are and how in shape you are and what age etc.-will change how much you should be gaining. i gained about 30 pounds in a month and a half when i was younger. its not that bad. think happy!

I know how you feel Cass.

I'm 14, 5'4 and I weigh 117 lbs. I can totally relate to the whole zoning out and wondering what it would be like to be "skinnier". But in reality you're at a really healthy weight for your age! There's no reason for you to go on a diet, but you can always try little exercises in like Seventeen magazine like someone suggested. Those are simple ways to stay in shape. I also know what it's like for your family to tell you you're "fat". My mom, dad, and brother have all said it to me at one point or another, all in different ways. My mom's the only one who's seen me cry over it telling her that is really bothered me, but my brother and dad never knew.

Last year when I was your age I struggled a lot with this. I don't want you to start making yourself basically throw up everything you eat like I did. Luckly for me I was able to stop it before it got too serious by focusing on school, family, and friends but other girls become addicted to it and make themselves really, really sick.

It's better to take a safe approach at a young age and just try to be involved with sports and worry about school and not appearances :)

Your by no means fat.

But if you want to eat healthier, try to drink more water than soda. And also, portion control. If you take a big bag of cheetos and sit on the couch and watch tv, your more likely to eat more. Instead just put some on a plate so you know how much your going to eat before you eat it.

And try to excersize more if you feel your not. Jog, pushups, ask your gym teachers if their's an after school fitness program.

well first idk how tall you are but 107 is not a lot at all! if ur seeing yourself as big but your realy not u really have to talk to your doctor about that. trust me i know what im talkingg about.. health and fitness is basically my life (sad i know) lol but to help you out you shouldnt be cutting the amount of food you eat back just the calories. for instance cut down on the amount of starch and sugar and eat lottts of fruits and veggies. have all 3 meals even if your not hungry. you can look bigger by not eating because your body becomes bloated and you become unhealthy. have atleast a serving of protein at every meal. water is good but make sure you drink lots of milk as well especially after working out.. it helps to build muscle also you can make protein shakes.. i love those! lol the strawberry is the best :)

as for working out.. the basics work really well. doing about 3 reps a day of pushups, and situps will really help you get toned. jumping jacks are great! try to do about 50 of them and then work your way up. planks are really good for your abs. also you can buy those DVDs of pilaties or dance or somthing that your interested in and do those like 5 days a week. make sure that you eat right and dont over work yourself! trust me thats the last thingg you want!! theres nothing wrong with giving yourself a day inbetween your workouts to rest and if you feel your working yourslef too hard.. SLOW DOWN! lol i hope i helped! if u need anything else u can PM me
:)

I'm 5'3" and exactly 100 pounds. I don't care about my weight. I don't eat like a bird, either. I don't exercise at all, and I'm just thankful for the weight that I have. I don't think I'm too skinny because some girls are a whole lot smaller than I am.

I don't mean to sound negative but;

I am 15 and weigh a little over 100lbs. Over the summer, I gained SO much weight, like over 14lbs. Yes, I feel a little fat sometimes, but the other week I was quite ill, and lost all that weight again. My friends told me I looked physically ill and my guy friends told me I looked disgustingly thin.

When I told my friends about my weight fluxuation over the summer, they told me they went through a similar thing. Everyone grows in different ways during puberty. And at 13, your body is going through so much, don't pressure it to lose weight.

Also fluxuating in weight loss and gaining, seriously screws up your system when your in early teens, ie Your menstrual cycle. Trust me from experience, I know lol. I was told that I was a late starter because of my weird weight gaining and losses.

Try not to focus in losing weight. I am fairly happy with my weight atm and all I usually do, is eat lots of fruit and veg, go for a 20 minute run everyday and play tennis once a week. Just do some sport that you enjoy and continue to eat things that you like, but counterbalance it with healthy things. You would be surprised at how much you can cut out of your diet.

Don't even think about more DRASTIC options to lose weight, I think you should know what I mean. My friend tried it, and she lost so much weight, looked horrible and her hands absolutely smelt of puke CONSTANTLY.

Just be healthy. Your 13, and tbh, you probably haven't stopped gaining weight. Just tone up and do sport, that always makes me feel good about myself.

Good luck.
