Okay, it's down to just a couple of days before our Spring WDW journey begins. Hubby and I are both excited to try out EE for the first time, but I'm a little wary regarding the seating. I'm a size 26 5'9" and hubby is about 295 lbs 6'2"---any words of advise from first-hand experiences? I really appreciate any input offered!

Go HERE:

There is a test car outside EE, if you want to try it.

Most folks here have not experienced any trouble "fitting" since after the very first AP/DVC preview weekend.

I'll be down starting this Wednesday for a week, I'll look for ya!!

BTW, your Auntie Mame line is not "exactly" what she said. :goodvibes

Hey, Hey, DisneyClay...

Welcome to the DISboards!!

Thanks for the feedback. And, I've corrected my signature line. Thanks!

My hubby is 6'4" and around 250-260 lbs...he has no problems what so ever!

Enjoy!

"Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death." -Auntie Mame

THAT'S not what she said either. Although it IS what Rosalind Russell said ("as" Auntie Mame) in the movie of the same name.

I'm not being critical...
I'm joking with you a bit, because what she (Auntie Mame) REALLY SAID would not be quotable on a family board. ;)

(I assumed you KNEW what the ORIGINAL quote was.)

The actual phrase is quoted by Patrick Dennis who wrote the original book about his Auntie Mame.
The Lucille Ball musical film version of "Mame" quotes it accurately (the mid-70's was a "freer" time).

But, you know, I like the Roz Russell version better on all counts!

:goodvibes

Robo--I'm a little slow today after just five hours sleep last night. Thank you for clearing that up for me. I'm with ya now! And, ain't that quote the truth?

bumping for the possibility of other firsthand accounts. Thanks!

I'm perhaps a bit taller and slimmer than yourself and I fit fine in EE - it wasn't even a question. I would think you'd have no problems fitting in the seat. My guess is your husband would not have a problem either. I have no problems with any of the rides at WDW. :thumbsup2

I want to take this opportunity to say that THIS ("no problems with any of the rides") is EXACTLY WHY we are having this discussion about EE.

Up until EE was built, there were no rides that WERE a problem for larger people.

BUT
BUT
BUT...

EE is the ONLY ride at WDW that has the kind of restraint bar that clicks "DOWN" into your lap.

EE's new "kind" of restraint is exactly what presented the problem.

When EE first previewed for AP/DVC guests in late January this year,
There were MANY Pooh-folks that (for the first time EVER at WDW) DID have problems with fitting into the seat and having the bar "lock down".

However, SINCE that time, there have been posts stating that the ride designers "adjusted" the lap-bar so that it had the ability to "lock" with a higher position so that "thicker" folks could be accommodated.

I have been monitoring these and other boards since that time and have NEVER found anyone who NOW has a problem fitting EE.

I will be down to WDW starting TOMORROW :) for 8 days.
I will compare how folks are "fitting" NOW compared to my observations last January and report back.

:thumbsup2

Robo, you are absolutely right (but then you knew that, right? :goodvibes )

We've never had a bit of a problem on any other Disney ride, but I'm nervous about EE because of the early reports.

We are actually leaving bright and early in the morning, and will arrive on Thursday afternoon (driving even though I work for an airline, call me crazy!). We will be there through Sunday, May 27, and, if things go as planned, we should be testing out EE ourselves on Saturday morning.

Have a wonderful trip, and we both can report back after our vacation!

When I was growing up, my dad worked for TWA, and we LOVED the non-rev passes! Our many family trips to Disneyland (and later WDW) is what got me HOOKED on Disney in general. (I don't want a "cure".)
So I WILL call you "crazy". :goodvibes

Ditto! :thumbsup2
Meet you back here sometime after the 28th... a bit more tired... but HAPPIER!

I am aware of the problems/concerns that EE has caused for larger people. Since OP and I are similar sizes however I don't think she will have a problem. I felt like I could have been a larger person and fit fine into the ride. It might depend on where you carry your weight however, on how difficult it is to get the bar down and locked.

You want advice? OK - here it is. Have a wonderful ride on EE. You shouls have no problems. Both my DH and I are large and we rode without any problems whatsoever. Have a good trip!
