Favorite cousin's baby is being baptized at the end of the month, and I really want to get something special for him. It's a boy and he will be baptized in a Catholic church. My own DS got tons of crosses and bibles, but nothing else really special that I can remember. Help!

PS One of the few times a Disney item wouldn't be too appropriate, I'm afraid...

How about a children's Catholic Bible. The stories are short and to the point. There are also some wonderful bible stories books at most religious stores. My children love their books.

What about a childrens Bible? My DS received a Precious Moments Bible (very cute with a light blue leather like cover). Although he couldn't use it right away, it's nice to have.

What about a really nice photo frame - maybe it can be inscribed/engraved? I know that I've seen some that are specifically for Baptisms. They usually sell them at Bible Book stores.

If you are attending the Baptism, you could also take photos (and blow up one to put into the frame later).

How about....
Those 'name' things....have you seen them set up at the mall and stuff?? They put the child's name into the computer and it comes out with the meaning - you can choose tons and tons of different papers to have it printed on - you could go cutesy, or religous, and they have some really nice frames for them too.
I had my daughter's done and it still hangs on her wall to this day!! We had a cheaper frame, but I know they had some nicer ones.
I found with my DD's christening we got tons of crosses/bibles/etc... but there were also some beautiful clothes, in fact she even got her very first disney store outfit then!!! Also a savings bond was given, and that was a super nice idea!

great ideas one and all. Anyone else?
PS I got him a share of Disney stock for his actual birth, don't think I can top that!

The saint medal(if he is named after a saint) is good. Or how about a statue of his name saint? We gave one of our godson's a nice cross. Not a cutesy children's cross, but a nice pewter celtic cross(he's Irish) which he would be able to take with him to his own homes when he got older.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate but it is special. The sterling silver baby silverware was something I received that was special and a keepsake for me.

My DS received an engraved sterling silver bank for his baptism. He is 10 now and it still sits on his dresser full of coins.

DS got a sterling silver Christmas ornament engraved with his Baptism date. It is a flat silver disc with the baby Jesus and a star. Very beautiful.

A cross to wear or to hang on the wall could also be engraved with the date.

A personalized Bible is always good.
