They are the hot Christmas toy this year. They have been sold out around here for at least the last week and a half. I know a few parents who have been frantically trying to get their hands on one for over a week now. I would say check on line at several stores. multiple times a day. Last Tuesday Toys R Us had them pop up available on line, but they were gone less than an hour later (by the time I had called my friend and she had jumped on and tried to get it). I'd also check multiple stores several times a week.

Ebay. Many were going for under retail, but that was BEFORE Black Friday. I don't know what the going price is now.

I'd check online often, several times a day and call around to different stores in your area once a day. I think this is the item to be had this Christmas that's for sure. Last I saw on ebay they were going for over $200. I would like one for DD but thankfully she wants other things. I'm planning on just getting one for her birthday, they should be more available by then.

They have been going in and out of stock on amazon today.

Also sign up for the email alert on leapfrogs website and they will email you when they come back in.

They have been going for $160 and up on ebay for over a week now.

I was in the same boat. I was going to buy it a few weeks ago and waited. I was able to get it for $99 then, but now it isn't available. Leapfrog. com has them but they sell them in bundles and they are not really discounted. I went with the cheapest bundle that included $40 in downloadable apps. GOod luck!

Here's what I did, hopefully it will work for you. I called a Books A Million store in a nearby town and asked if they had one in the green. The man said no but they had a truck coming in the next day. He said I should call on that day , several times and ask if one was on the truck. He said if it was, they'd put it at customer service with my name on it and give me call.

Sure enough, I called the morning of truck day, they got two in and saved me one of them. I had to pick it up the same day.

The one they put on the shelf had already been sold.

Two ladies at work were looking for them and happened to stumbled upon them in stock at Best Buy. They had 8 of them. She purchased 2 and then kicked herself for not buying the others too. Seems like if you are diligent you have to just luck into them.

I managed to snag one yesterday on amazon by using a third party tracking site. *******, it's free. You sign up and they'll email/ text you when they're in stock somewhere. You need to act fact though as I missed the first several alerts- they were back out of stock in seconds

It allows you to add to cart and proceed to checkout, but as soon as you do that it tells you that they are not in stock. Thank you for trying to help find one.

I was wanting to get one of these for my DD4 also. I decided to not worry about it and bought her the Tag learning system and the Vtech handheld game yesterday for black friday and also bought several games/books for each. It cost less than the leappad and a lot less stress for me trying to find it. I got a raincheck from wal mart, but they said it probably wont be back in stock until after Christmas. Ill get it for the $99 still, just will wait until they get them and it can be a gift for another time.

My local Barnes a Noble just added a pretty big toy section with a lot of hot lego sets and Leappad Explorers and other Leapster products. It might be worth checking out your local B&N.

Thanks everyone! I signed up for that notification website. I got the text message about Kmart today, but like a PP said once I added it to my cart it said that they weren't in stock. Lots of pink ones have been popping up on different websites today, but of course, I need green. My husband is laughing at me so bad because everytime my cellphone beeps I jump for it. I think I'll check my local B&N just in case.

There is a website called *******. I found one for my Cousin's DS (I had one for my DD already.) I set it to text message me. I prefilled my info in on Barnes&Nobles (they even let you enter your credit card) and my text went off and woke me up in the middle of the night. I got on the laptop and ordered right away. It was crazy, but it worked. I think a notification website is the only hope of getting one this season.

Amazon just listed the leap pad's available for $99 in the green color. If you do a search and it shows the higher price just click on the link for the green one and it's coming up available and $99 for the price, free 2 day shipping for prime members as well.

They're all gone now. Hope someone else was up late like myself and was able to snag one. I'm so excited I couldn't sleep tonight! Yay for insomnia. Now let's just hope it shows it's shipped tomorrow and I don't get a cancellation notice instead.
