Is the only word I can use to sum up John McCain's performance tonight. He came out with both barrels drawn, but somehow it just didn't cut it. Obama rocked! I feel much more secure and confident that he will be our next POTUS and a very good one at that.:thumbsup2

every democrat promises to cut taxes, and they all raise them. look at bill clinton in 1992.

I have to agree...McCain looked angry, his words seemed stilted and I found him annoying! More than any other debate actually!

In 1992 Bill Clinton took over during a recession and during his 8 years the US economy experienced 10 consecutive quarters of historical growth while the budget had a surplus.....nothing wrong with that.

And look at the results...

But I guess G. Bush(sr) kept his "read my lips" promise, lets just pretend that he was a democrat too.

I agree. I don't think it was such an issue, and almost thought he had it under control, until the negative attacks issue was brought up. McCain was strong for the first 30 minutes. But after that point...the desperation and temper showed through, and I think it impacted his answers and Obama took the upper hand. I think Obama was strong on healthcare, abortion and supreme court, and education. No doubt it was McCain's strongest night of the debates, certainly better to go out on than the others, but he wasn't able to contain his temper or really shine the way I think he probably needed to in order to make a big difference. I think his consistent blinking was nervousness and an attempt to restrain his temper, because so much was riding on this night.

Here here! :woohoo:

His closing statement was a grand slam!

I kind of felt sorry for McCain tonight. He was so obvious.

Barack Obama as always, was very commanding and articulate. I will be proud to have him as our next President!

Obama made him look silly....but the media has a vested $$$$ interest in this being a close election, so they will make sure the race is close

I'm going to level with you guys.

I do not know where an Obama presidency will take us over the next 4 years.

But I can tell you that it will be a million times better than anywhere a McCain presidency will take us.

Obama 08.

I agree with you.

Can somebody post a link to these polls to which you refer?

McCain came across as a tired, cranky old man again. I love the way he characterized Obama's ads about McCain's platform as "negative campaigning." Umm, no, those are ads about the issues, not your mudslinging to avoid talking about the issues.

I also love it when McCain talks about how easy it is to fix everything in a couple of years. Social security, energy, the economy--just a walk in the park. But this is the same guy who thought the Iraq war was going to be finished in weeks.

And the same guy that about a month ago SWORE that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

While I respect John McCain... really I do... I was very disappointed with his odd behavior tonight... The Eye rolling and smirking were out of control.
Obama chuckled occaisionally... out of /dismay/frustration it would seem.. but he usually waited for his turn to explain/rebuke McCain's claims.
Yes, I would say McCain was on the offensive tonight... however Obama came out on top... again.

I want to know who else actually CHEERED when the moderator asked:
Explain why your running mate would be a good president...
Holy Cow... I thought I would nearly die LOL as McCain tried to explain that Sarah Palin would be good at... .. well ... what was that again?????:confused:confused3 .. Sarah Palin is not who I want to be at the helm if McCain should go down...

This is what really bothered me about McCain tonight as well. It really almost made the debate unwatchable for me.

I look at it this way. They can both promise to cut taxes all they want. Doesn't mean a thing. Because of the mess we are now in financially, the next POTUS will HAVE to propse to raise taxes. Obama, McCain, Bob Barr, whoever...I am personally convinced that they will have to raise taxes.

iggbee- I am glad it bothered someone else.

I was so disheartened by Mc Cain's behavior tonight. I had always thought him to be "above" that type of behavior.

As for the negative campaigning. issue... I agree that McCain's television campaign is totally negative. Obama's ads .. which are running 2-1 to McCain's are now a bit more negative.. but his ads mostly tell you what he is doing or wants to do as POTUS.
McCain's ads are Obama is bad, Obama has bad friends, Obama is.... blah, blah...blah. NEVER one thing about McCain's ads inclue McCain's
plan/position.
I wish each candidates ads were about what THEY want to do, where they've been, who they are....
