ok - here's the deal .... my family has been to WDW 10 times in the last 8 years ...but this time will be different , we are taking newbies with us .
It's a couple with one 3yr DS ...(we have one PICKY 7yr DD) . Can you tell me your favorite family resturant for all 4 parks ? We already have CP ADR
( that's a must with our family ! ) I am thinking Coral Reef for Epcot and Sci-Fi for MGM ? Any thing better ? any secret places ? what about AK ? Normally when we go , we don't plan - we just do alot of counter service ( except for CP ) -- but the newbies want to know where we plan to eat .

Thanks -- we leave in 10 days !!!!! YYIIPPPEEE !!!

I would say Canada in EPCOT is a must! Such good food.

Don't really have a TS for AK as tend not to eat much there just fries or something.

Sci-Fi is definitely my kids (7, 8 and 10) favorite restaurant at MGM. They've been going there since they were 2, 4 and 5 and it's definitely a "must do" every trip.

We've only done counter service at AK, but my kids love RFC at DTD so they would probably enjoy the RFC at AK.

Some of the kids favorite restaurants are : Chef Mickey's, Ohana, Kona Cafe, 1900 Park Fare, Coral Reef, Biergarten, Garden Grill and believe it or not, Restaurant Marrakesh (Morroco). Happy planning!

because of the ages of the kiddos......and one is picky........In MK I would go with your choice of Crystal Palace for dinner. In Epcot, Biergarten cause the kids would love the music and the food is pretty good too. In MGM Hollywood and Vine because it is another buffet and the kids can have some good choices too.....In AK .....because of the new restaurant opening, I am not sure.....but we like pizzafari in AK and Flame Tree BBQ.......

I have called and it seems that EVERYTHING is booked -- I wonder what my chances are for walk up ??? I REALLYY wanted to go to Whispering Canyons again ---- think I could get a table ???

I'm taking it you guys don't have the DDP? My kids like CP in MK, you might want to try Chef Mickey's in the CR (very kid friendly and a character meal). We've never eaten at the Coral Reef, we always eat in the World Showcase. The Biergarten is great and the kids can have sausage or hot dogs on the buffet, mac & cheese too. The Rainforest Cafe is a fun place, never been to the one in AK, but the one around here in Galveston is fun.

I concur with Pumbas choices. Because of different tastes sticking to buffets is a good idea. One alternatives Epcot -- The Garden Grill;

Good luck. We had the same problem last year, but since we were on DDP and they weren't it made a HUGE difference. We only ate together twice in 11 days. They didn't want to spend the money to eat where we did and they still said it was a bad deal (free DDP) Go figure

how can free be a bad deal ???

tell me how DDP can help me get ADR ?

how can free be a bad deal ???

They had a wedding rate for the room and we paid rack rate and had to get 4 individual park entrances (we all have AP). It cost us about $400 extra for free dining, BUT, I'm upgrading the one day passes right now, so the actual cost was only about $100 more give or take. For 12 days of food for 4 people? Yeah, I tried to explain that to them and well, I finally gave up.

Unfortunately it can't. I'm not on DDP in December and I've been trying for a three months to get an ADR at LeCellier and NO LUCK. They're booked for ALL of December. I was able to get the other ones I wanted though. Good luck on your ADRs

I think Biergarten would be a great choice. The food is good for picky eaters, and kids love the atmosphere. If not that, how about Garden Grill? Again, good food, unlimited servings, and a neat atmosphere (plus characters!)

Rainforest Cafe in AK is good. Lots to choose from, fun dining room. Lots for kids to look at!

It does seem like 10 days isn't leaving you much time for ADRs, though. I would try calling the morning you want to eat there and see if they have any last minute availability.

Unfortunately I think you are out of luck for ADR's for your trip. People have been making them for 6 months for 10 days from now. Your chances of getting a table as a walkup is very slim too, at the popular park restaurants and also at place like Whispering Canyon Cafe.
I would try calling disney Dining every morning to see what they have available for the next day or two. Folks do cancel ADR's and you may get lucky. Some here have reported calling Disney Dining while walking to a restaurant and getting an ADR for the near future (15 minutes later). When they arrived at the same restaurant walk ups were being turned away. It seems calling is better than appearing at the restaurant podium.
Good Luck

Sci-Fi was waaaay too dark for my liking. And the movie screen was distracting to my DS7. Try 50s Prime Time. It's got a great family feel to it, and the kids can interact better with the servers. My DS7 liked it, though he was upset after they said he couldn't have his ice-cream if he didn't finish his green beans! Coral Reef was good too, it's a bit dark in there as well, but not as dark as Sci-Fi. When you make your ADR see if you can request a table closer to the fish tank(I know that's a lame term), the kids will love it more.

10 days YIKES....I hope you are able to get in somewhere being this close to time. If not, Just keep calling, someone may cancel!

Ok, here are my picks
MK- yes I agree with CP, but we just ate at LTT 2 weeks ago for the first time since 1996...MY KIDS LOVED IT!!!!!
EP- CR is GREAT and very relaxing, but w/ picky eaters I would ask for PB&J.
AK-Breakfast at Donalds Resturantasaurus, but other than that your only other opt is Rainforest Cafe which my kids love that place too.
MGM- My kids would pick Sci Fi I'm sure...although they both also really like Prime time.

FYI...DDP will not help you get an ADR. Walk ups are kind of unlikely, if they are telling you now they are booked...But when you check in if you haven't gotten anything yet ask then for them to check on anything and everything. Be flexible and you might luck out! Try lunch if the dinner times are full.
