Desktop recommendations?

My 11 year old wants a desktop for Christmas. He will use it mainly for gaming (minecraft!) and school. He does not want Windows 8 and I do not want to spend a fortune. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!!

Watch Staples ads in December. I found my son one there for gaming 2Christmas ago very reasonable for gaming. I think he runs Windows 7. I have also found good deals in Walmart when looking for older operating systems.
