Designer Handbags

Do you own a designer bag, if so, which?

  • Louis Vuitton

  • Dooney & Bourke

  • Coach

  • Another designer brand (please tell)

  • I don't, but would if I could afford it.

  • I don't, and would never spend that much on a bag.

Just curious. I don't own any of them, but it seems like every other woman I see lately is carrying one. Especially the 18-30 set.

I do think the D&B's are cute, but I have a hard time justifying spending $145....and that's a lower priced one...on a purse.

But those Louis Vuitton bags...most of the ones I see are just ugly brown with the tan monogram. I don't see the appeal.

If you have bought any of these bags, what drove you to buy it? Was it just a status symbol, or is there something truly superior about these bags?

Again, I'm just curious. :D

im not a big purse person, so i could never see spending that much money for a purse--but thats just me!

I have a Coach purse. Me and my sister were shopping and we both fell in love with them. :teeth: We ARE both only 13 and 17....but they're really cute. We got them for Christmas. Then, a few weeks ago, my sister and I both bought Coach wallets. I never thought I'd buy something that expensive...but...when one sees those cute purses and wallets...it's so hard to resist :p ::yes:: :teeth:

I own several Coach bags....but had never heard of them before being approached while working one day by a manager of a Coach factory store...she wanted to recruit me to work with her. I ended up working there for a year (loved the people I worked with....the customers were usually rude and spoiled) and during that time, took advantage of my employee discount to garner myself and my family members some nice stuff. Haven't bought any since, however...the bags last practically forever if you take good care of them.

I love my Coach purses. THey hold up so well. I buy the leather ones which tend to stay more "fashionable" and carry them for years.

you didn't make a category for "more than one of the above" so I had to go with Coach. the bags are stylish and well made.

I've never bought one. I doubt I ever will. My practical nature is just too dominant. I choose purses for durability, practicaity, price and a style that looks good to me. I hardly notice what other women carry anyway, so I neither emulate nor form opinions about them. Are there other things I splurge on? Absolutely! Just not accessories, make-up, purses, clothes, beauty salons, etc.

I have a cute Tinkerbell bag that I got at Fashion Bug for about $15

I also have a leather bag with Egyptian graphics on it that my friend got me last Christmas. I have no idea how much it was but would guess it was in probably the $20-$40 range.

I could never imagine spending that much on a bag. Unless it was really unusual and had something on it I really liked (like the Egypt bag), I'd say my limit for a bag for me would be $25

I own a Dooney and Bourke Briefcase but only because I bought it at a Yard sale for $5 ;)

I love Dooney & Bourke handbags. :D I fell in love with them almost 10 yrs. ago. I've had three. My mom bought me my first. I recently gave it back to her as I never use it any more. Thought she might use it, but it's a very heavy bag.
My other two are navy (I use in that winter and khaki, I use in the spring). I have the matching wallets. Theses things can take alot of abuse. They still look brand new. I don't change handbags hardly ever and will think forever before I buy one. It's a long time purchase for me. Not something I'll get rid of. So I want to make sure I really like it.
I did get DD one this year for her 8th grade grad. It's one of the small ones...very cute. So far she has taken very good care of it, but if she don't...it's moms! ;)

I have a Coach purse that I absolutely love. I am very hard on my purses, and therefore will spend the extra money to have a good one that I can throw around and have it still look nice.

I bought it for myself for Christmas last year, it's red with dark brown leather and I always get a ton of compliments on it.

Now I'm eyeing the burgandy one they have out though.

Some people spend their money on shoes, I buy myself one good purse every couple years.

I have a few 4 Kate Spade bags, plus my diaper bag is a Kate Spade. I have a few Coach bags and a Louis Vuitton Murakami bag. Pocketbooks are definately my 1 downfall.

I have a small black Coach bag and a Kate Spade Dot Noel bag that are currently in rotation. I also have a few leather Kenneth Coles that I don't really carry around much anymore. I love handbags and would buy several more if I could.

I have a couple of Coach bags, but I am not that thrilled with the last one I bought. It's a really soft brown leather and it scratched terribly. It looks like it's been through the war and it's less than a year old.

my daughter loves Kate Spade and Coach.. I could never spend that much money on a purse... I do think they're pretty, but I have some more important things to buy or need, but that's just me.

I love them, and I buy "knock offs" My first was the Louis V shoulder bag - with leather...

The 2nd is a coach bag - I fell in love with the short shoulder strap pink one - looked at the price and walked away, then in the mall there is the store that sells "look alikes" and there was the look like pink bag - and so it is!

I grew up in a time when the only designer labels I ever knew about were Wrangler and Levi. I wouldn't know a designer purse if I fell over it. :p I buy my pocketbooks/purses at Walmart! :teeth:

But ... if you're into them, go for it! :bounce: I bought a handmade saddle bag purse at a leather boutique and paid a good penny for it. Designer things are just not my thing ... and I think it's because I didn't grow up with knowledge of designer "stuff".

I would spend $50 on a pound of really good, creamy textured, not too sweet, Belgian chocolate, but never a designer purse! ROTFLOL!  :wave2:

My sisters bought me a coach bag for Christmas, I carry it every day and it still looks like new. My boss bought me a very cute tiny Brighton bag that was probably $90 that I use sometimes on weekends, or when I just don't want to lug the big one. I kind of like getting 'upgraded' accessories as Christmas presents! ::yes::

I have a Coach wallet, but I didn't buy it. I found it while dumpster diving back when I was in college. At the end of the year rich college kids throw away perfectly good stuff that they can't or don't want to take home :teeth:.

The most I'd spend on a purse is about $60. Usually I spend much less. Right now my purse is a black Eddie Bauer mini-backpack. Things like that are just what I prefer.
