Design the ideal dining plan

I have tried and tried (embarrassing amount of effort spent on this!) to decide which Dining plan we should do. I have decided that there really is not one that really suits us. If I could design a new one, it would be:

* 2 CS a day
1 TS a day
2 snacks
Refillable mug (mostly for souvenier purposes)

* if the CS were used at breakfast, a side of fruit or yogurt would be given in place of dessert.

This would be priced between DDP and DxDP. Well, ideally, it would be Free...

I wish you could buy the number of individual CS, TS, and snack credits you needed. We are not snackers and seldom use any of our snack credits (until the last day when we rush around to find stuff to take home:rotfl:). So we don't really need any snack credits and really couldn't care less about the mugs. We are not breakfast eaters, so like to eat an early lunch and then a later dinner. There are a few CS restaurants we like, but not really that many. We like the Signature restaurants, (but would like to do only maybe 4-5 in a 8 night stay then one credit restaurants the rest of the time), so for right now the DxDDP works best for us. I wish we could buy just a few CS credits, then as many TS credits as we need though, then skip the snack credits and mugs. With the DxDDP we have too many meal credits and don't really want the snacks or mugs. With the basic DDP we struggle to find enough places to use the CS credits and never have enough TS credits, so wind up paying for meals out of pocket. With the way we eat, there is no way we'd ever be interested in the Counter Service plan. There are just too few CS places that we really like (Tangeriene Cafe, Norwegian bakery, Sunshine Seasons, Pepper Market, and WGP Express, but that's it).

Said it before, and I'll say it again, there's no technological reason they can't build an ala carte custom DDP system that allows you to purchase the number and types of credits you want/need that would be valid for the duration of your resort stay.

Credits could be purchased individually and/or in discounted "packages" under such a scheme (e.g., choose a package like the current basic DDP at a discounted rate per credit and add N number of extra CS credits at the "rack" rate).

But don't they have that already? Its called NOT getting the dining plan.

We have found that the dining plan does not fit the way we eat, so we just don't get the plan. We like to eat 2 light table service meals per day. We don't get desserts for the most part (maybe share 1 a couple times during the week at dinner). We don't do much snacking (although I have to get my Dole Whip each trip!). So, we just pay OOP.

On our last trip I kept track of our costs and we pretty much broke even paying OOP vs. if we had bought the regular dining plan. But we ate what we wanted and where we wanted.

My apologies. It was a typo. Maybe a tired brain. I meant 2 cs, 1 ts. I edited it and corrected.
But, you were right when you made your comment.

That is still the DxDP. You get 3 meal credits per night and can use them however you decide. Granted, it's not a cost effective way to use the DxDP but you could use it just as you have described.

I would love a "snack"plan...LOL We tend to use those more than anything.. Something like an optional add-on of 10 snacks for 20.00

I would love 2 TS and 2 Snacks. The refillable mug would be optional.

For us, a TS breakfast and TS dinner would be awesome! We found that we did not really want to "stop" during the day to eat lunch. 2 Snack credits to use between the TS meals would fill that in perfectly! Then relax & refresh with a TS meal, and off again.

This is for fun! I didnt say i was going to radically change the world, just tweak the dining plan a bit...

I get that this is for fun and I was just pointing out that the "tweak" that you are proposing already exists.

I would add a refillable mug & one extra snack to the regular DDP.:thumbsup2

I wish it could be purchased for only the members of your party who want it. My DH would use it very well but I order appetizers as my entree 99% of the time.

If we could just put him on and pay me OOP it would serve us very well.

1 counter service
1 TS
2 snacks
refillable mug
You could pay an additional fee per signature TS that you desire...i.e. $30pp would be added to the 1 TS to be used at signature restaurant. If eating at a signature, you automatically get app, entree, dessert.

I think for TS, you shoud be able to substitute an app for a dessert. Or, you should be able to get an alcoholic beverage instead of the dessert/app.

An alcoholic beverage from a cart should be equivalent to 2 snack credits.

2 CS should be able to be combined to equal 1 TS.

2 snacks should be able to be combined to make 1 CS.

A drink option for each park would be fabulous, too. I don't mean a mug that you need to carry around. Perhaps a card, bracelet, etc. that could be purchased (or included in the plan) that would entitle the user to nonalcoholic drinks at the park. Or even around the entire world for the length of stay. Perhaps an alcoholic version could be offered as well.

I know this is all a "dream world", so please son't flame my ideas or tell me this or that is already offered. This is just the ideal plan/options for DH and me.

2 TS and 2 snacks plus a mug is my perfect plan. I pretty much get that with the DxDP since I am planning on doing signature restaurants. As my kids get older and we are doing more things in the park though I think that so many signatures are not going to be east so I would rather do a late TS BF and an early Ts dinner

My ideal plan would be 2TS 1CS and 1 snack. Or just 2TS and 2 snacks.

They would both be priced less than the current deluxe plan (which we're trying for the first time in May 2011) so not the same thing IMO.

This would be my perfect plan as well! We like to do TS for breakfast and dinner but having the CS at lunch would be more flexible for plnning and less of a time waster. I am doing the deluxe plan in november and I know I can use the plan this way, but it doesn't make sense $ wise. So we are doing a bunch of signature dinners and using snacks for light lunches.

I don't have any major qualms with the plan, but I would like it if you could choose between an app and a dessert. My boy and I seldom even share a dessert, let alone get our own... we're much more likely to get appetizers.

How about a Counter Service Plus Plan? It would be the current CS plan, plus for every 3 days you stay you get 1 Table Service credit.

I love the flexibility of the counter service plan, but we always end up with around 2 TS meals during a weeks stay. It gives us a little variety and a chance to enjoy the characters. Yep, if they offered the CS+ plan, I'd buy it!

I think a drink option for the parks is a great idea!
