Design question

I know i read it somewhere before but i can't seem to fine it again. When you have a clip art image how to you remove the white background and just have the design?

if I have a background photo i always use a layer to add the clip art then I use the eraser tool to erase the background

What program are you using? If you need help post the image and I will remove the white background for you...IF I CAN!!

I think it depends on the type of program you are using. I can't just in one swipe remove them, I also have to enlarge and clear each pixel one at a time.It is very time consuming and sometimes impossible.
I use free paint.net

I am using adobe Photoshop elements, it is working for me by adding a layer and enlarging the picture and using the eraser
