My friend and her husband are taking their 6 year old twins to Disneyland in May for 5 nights for their first Disneyland trip! She made reservations for Desert Inn for $69 per night. I know that the HoJos gets great reviews, but the entertainment rates are not available for her dates. Will she be ok at the Desert Inn & Suites? She is a neat freak and wants a clean room. The pool is not important as she said that they want to spend all of their time in the parks. Being close to the parks is important to her. I thought that I would ask the DIS experts--any opinions? Thanks!

I have not been there personally but haven't heard any bad reviews. Try going to expedia and read the reviews there. I also like Fairfiled Inn across the street.

We don't mind it at all its clean and close nothing fancy. Stayed there 3 times and I would stay there again.

My family has stayed there a few times. Rooms are nothing special but are clean enough. The only negative is sometimes the maid service doesn't get around to cleaning your room until mid afternoon, which can be a drag if you like to go back to the room for a break during the peak of the day.

But the location can't be beat! That's for sure. We've since fallen in love with the Hojo, but if we couldn't get the entertainment rate, we would have no problem staying at the Desert Inn again. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I'm sorry, but I know who you are talking about!!! I had to post because I was just totally busting up. You should have bolded "neat freak" for Karen.:lmao:

DI&S is our first choice when we can't get the EC rate at HOJO. We've never had any issues with cleanliness there and the proximity is great.

The only issue we've ever had was them trying to charge the full stay upon checkout when they'd already secured the first two nights. It was an easy fix though and they were very apologetic.

For you DI&S vet's, I know noise is unavoidable, but if you were looking to minimize it to the extent you can - any suggestions? Top floor? Front/back of building? Thanks.

We've never had a noise issue. Actually the only noise we've encountered was some kids playing in the atrium like area in the back. lol

Seems to me that it's not all that close to the freeway and the rooms are set back off of Harbor.

We stayed there last July and we thought the hotel was great. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and we didn't have a problem with noise. Our room was toward the back so maybe that had something to do with no noise. But, it was a great place to stay and you can't beat the location. We plan to stay there again next trip!

We've stayed there and it was fine. But I would not recommend the place for a neat freak. Sorry, but to me I was scared to take a bath or ever let my bare feet touch the floor. It might have been the age and decor and bare bones furnishings of the room that made me feel that way. It might have technically been clean but I just didn't perceive it that way.

That stay was the one where we decided we weren't in our 20's anymore when we could make do with anything. That we were going to have to raise our standard a bit if we were going to go on vacation in the first place. JMHO.

We have stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites twice, most recently at the end of January. We love this hotel. I thought it was clean enough, my daughter took baths in the tub, we walked around barefoot, etc. I'm not a neat freak, though. You can't beat the price and the proximity to the parks. We already have a room reserved for two more trips this year.
