I was checking out rates for our trip in June next year. I'm already booked at the Tropicana, but found the rates for the Desert Inn to be quite a bit cheaper. Looks like pretty much the same walking distance. Anyone stay there, and how was it?

I've stayed at both and they are pretty much comarable. I give a slight edge to Tropicana because I've gotten better customer service there. But I usually lean towards the cheapest, so I'd say go for Desert Inn. They do have an indoor pool which some find appealing, but it felt too much like a sauna to us.

Can't make much comment on the Tropicanna but can throw in my 2 cents on Anaheim Desert Inn. We have stayed there for all of our 7 trips. The price is hard to beat and the proximity to the park is great. So far I have never been able to find a better deal.
The rooms are large, you can get 2 bathrooms if you go with their largest room, all have a fridge & microwave, and they are clean & comfortable. Beds have always been comfy. The pool is small and parking is limited to one car. They offer basic continental food items. There is a convience store downstairs for anything you might have forgotten. Overall, we have never had any problems.
Not 5 star but works great if you will not be spending lots of time in your room anyway and if you would rather spend big bucks in the park rather than on lodging.
We enjoy being able to make the short walk back to the room midday. We will be heading back there again next year and probably as long as we keep heading back to DL!

Thanks for the reviews! I think we'll give it a try this time. We can either save quite a bit of money, or get a bigger room for almost the same price. So now I just need to decide what we'd prefer! :)

We stayed there in mid October and I just booked today for 5 nights in May. We travelled with the inlaws last time so we got the C2 Family Suite. It was nice because we had a 14 month old and when she slept we could hang out in the little (TINY!!) living room so she could fall asleep while the inlaws slept in their room.

In May I think we are travelling alone (w/o the inlaws) and decided to splurge for an extra $150 and get a C1 parlor suite... two rooms, a living room and 1.5bathrooms.

This way when she naps we won't be confined to a tiny living room the size of a bathroom! And maybe, just baby the inlaws will decide to come with again and we'll have a room for them.

Anyway, we liked it enough to stay again.
