Are you trendy? Are you up to date on all the latest techniques and tools? Or maybe you're more the classic type; in other words, you have a few basic techniques that you like and you make those work for you. How about eclectic? Your style is all-over-the-place completely undefined. Or maybe you fit somewhere else into the scrapbook scheme. How would you describe your style?

Personally, I fall somewhere in between classic and trendy. I love the new techniques but I never seem to catch on to one before everyone else moves on to something newer. Come to think of it, that pretty much describes my fashion sense, as well!

Also, are you social or a lone scrapper? I've only scrapped alone in the wee hours of the night up till now, but I am seriously considering attending my first crop soon. I'm hoping for some serious inspiration.

What about you?

My style is fairly simple and I do not follow trends. I typically do a top or bottom border and stickers. I'm a sticker-a-holic. I do a lot of journaling too.

My favorite way to scrap is a small groun with my closest friends. But I can scrap at a big crop or by myself at home. Journaling must be done at home by myself. It's very therapeutic for me. (Does the fact that I journal a lot mean I need thereapy?) It i sone of the few times, I shut down and focus on just one thing, though. I tend to be scattered in a million directions and my journaling time tends to get me focused.

Good thread!

In the middle- I like using the new stuff (PAINT!!!) but I am by far a more "simple" scrapper as I dont spend the hours or the dollars per page. I also apparently scrap in mass more than most (one year typically is 2-3 books) and I also scrap pretty up to date (I'm almost done with Easter)
I also have a pretty basic style for most of my pages :)

my style is in the middle, I take classes at a local store, so I learn a few new techniques, but I rarely use them when not in class because I am afraid I will mess it up.

I like to scrap with friends, but I get the most done, at home, alone in the middle of the night.

Is insomnia :rolleyes1 a requirement for scrappers???

My style is very simple -- I like to try new things, but tend to avoid the really "trendy" stuff like metal, wood, cork, leaves, small animals .... LOL!

Seriously, I put a lot of pictures on my pages and like things to look pretty symmetrical (I think I've tilted two pictures in my entire life!) so I guess I'd call that "classic" style. :)

I guess I'd call my style eclectic. . . I'm another one like HunnyPots - by the time I catch on - everyone else has moved on - so mostly I don't bother. I love PAPER. I LOVE PENS. I LOVE my PICTURES. I love to paperpiece, but I can do a whole album with one sheet of stickers. Been scrapping about 5 years - no 6 and done about 30 - 12 x 12 albums and countless gifts of several sizes, a few commissions, some framed pages, cards. I think I scrapbook like an engineer rather than an artist - more technical than creative, but my friends disagree, so who knows? Fun question!

Great question!
I love hearing about everyone's style.
I am basically a clean lines simple scrapper.
I love embellishments but hardly use them! I like having them...
But I do love eyelets and metal. But my pages are not super lumpy. I don't like wire.
I find my style changes to my mood, or season.
I love monochromatic colors. and have no problems all plain paper but then I like to throw in a splash of color with ribbon. (of course this current trend of mine doesn't stop me from hording pattern paper...which I have a ton of...)
Right now I am am into vellum. Which took me a long time to warm up to. I love to tear it and then chalk the edges. Chalk is one of my favorite tools.
Die cuts right now are my thing too goes great with chalk.

I am love large crops for scrapping. More people the better. but lately I have been at home by myself..... :sad2:

When I first started four years ago, I was definitely a trend follower: the pictures cut into silhouettes, mats cut with funky scissors, stickers all over the place. But I have read a lot about basic design and tend to be a more simple scrapbooker, focused on the pictures and how to highlight them best. I like the new stuff that isn't messy: brads, eyelets, rub ons, and tend to stay away from the time-consuming stuff like paint. I usually only get to scrap for 45 minutes to an hour at a time, so I like to finish a page in that time frame.

I am a stickler for scrapping chronologically, but I like to break that up by doing several gift albums a year. It's fun to complete a small album in a couple weeks, but sometimes it's hard to give it away!

Oh I forgot to say that when I started I had two girlfriends I loved to scrap with while our kids played. Since we moved I haven't found anyone who likes to do it, so I have been on my own. It is kind of hard to shut myself up to go scrap all by myself, so I have been posting more than I have been scrapping lately!

Although I love buying embellishments - I rarely use them. :confused3 My pages tend to turn out very basic with clean lines. I love tearing paper and vellum. I have tons of patterned paper but never use it. I'm like a lot of others too, by the time I get the hang of a new trend, everyone else has moved on . . . :confused3

KISS- Keep It Simple Stupid, that's me! I've tried to be trendy, but it's just not me. Okay, I love eyelets, but I get tied up with ribbon, tense with tags, painted on with paint, jealous of joilees. My pages are photo-hogs...i've taken to calling my scrapbooks 'Enhanced Photo Albums' because that's what they seem to be. To me, less is not more....less just looks empty! The more photos the better! i've got too many photos to choose only one or two.

okay, so i wish i was more stylish and trendy; i do drool over magazines. but in the end i seem to lack the creativity or the patience for such involved pages! i'm way behind and just want to catch up! (but I'll always be playing catch-up!)

i'm halfway concerned about longevity, but since i scrap primarily for me (read: no kids), it doesn't matter too much.

lastly, i scrap alone! never been to a class, rarely go to a scrap store, i don't even know anyone else in the 'real world' who scraps! yikes! :earseek:

I am a "whatever strikes my fancy, dark side scrapper". :) I adore ribbons, fibers, bottle caps, eyelets, brads, my quickutz, stickers.... just depends on my mood (and of course what I'm scrappin) I will admit that I did go out of my way to aggrievate the cm person doing the teacher books... loaded metal, bottle caps, ribbon etc onto those pages. :) but we have a running agreement to disagree and she really does call me the dark side scrapper which I personally think is hysterical. :) maggie

I'm kinda like someone else said earlier--simple, basic scrapping, pretty much same L/O just using different C/S. I use alot of stickers. Not much on all the fancy techniques.

I do a mix--depends on what book I am doing and what the pictures are about. I don't do a lot of embellishments, like to journal. One day I want to go back and redo years of old pictures, but they will be done fairly simple. Tend to be more creative with trip albums and my son's. My daughter was pretty well grown before I started scrapbooking, but may go back and pick out pics specific to her and our trips and do albums for her.

What a great topic!!! After ten years, I am still trying to find my style. I tend to be simple with a border or enhancements in a corner. I try to fit at least three pictures on a page. I have been getting more into the trends lately without losing my original style (whatever that is) I must say that I love my sizzix and tags are my new thing!! I have been buying a lot of ribbon and eyelets, just haven't used any!!!

I have a very simple style. three or four pictures to a page, some borders and a few stickers or embellishments. I hate to journal, so I leave blank spaces for later

I have a range from simple and frugal to extravagant and trendy. It depends on the project, really, but I get paid for my scrapbooking items/designs since that is my business. (BTW I won't disclose my business name nor website nor ebay username because I know there are some haters out there so I remain incognito. :smooth: )

I notice scrapbooking magazines tend to set trends and and everything tends to look the same. Plus, scraplifting is very popular which doesn't seem to leave a lot of room for originality.

I really prefer simple, frugal, and even reusing or recycling items to add to your scrapbooks. It gives it life. :flower:

I scrapbook in my basement alone because I find it relaxing. I tend to go for papers, stickers, die cuts, borders. I am currently working on a book for my youngest daughter. I am doing it in order of her life and seeing she is 19 its been a long process sorting through what I will use. Doing this in a group setting would be impossible for me. When I scrapbooked our 25th anniversary Disney land and sea cruise book I saved everything possible, bought Disney postcards, got autographs from each country in Epcot (with 25th anniversary greetings) along with several rolls of pictures for that book. I also did alot of journaling to remember our week.

I like simple and basic layouts with a little flare here and there. I like borders, journal boxes, and nice clean lines. I always do two page spreads, most all layouts have a title, basic shaped photos that are matted at least once or twice, a journal box and then some other "embellishment" of sorts. I feel like my layouts are all the same in some ways with just a different theme or color. I very seldom use patterned paper, but prefer solid cardstock. I like to use eylets and vellum and will try out the new trends from time to time, but always revert back to my same basic style. This is a cool thread.
