Depressed...

So we've been saving up for Disney since the beginning of the year, first thing to happen was we needed a new well pump ($900) then the rack and pinion went out on our van ($450) and now we need a new rear axle assembly for our van ($700) all of that money has come out of our vacation fund. SO we now have $5 in our savings for vacation and 2 and a half months until our vacation.

Our kids don't know about the vacation, so I'll be canceling my daughter's BBB appointment. We eat 2 meals in our villa already (Rent points from the inlaws) and we don't need a ton of souvenirs. We drive.

I guess I need to figure out the minimum we need to go. SO sad.

Call Disney and find out the cheapest you can pull things off if you want to stay on site (with free dining).

Instead of BBB for my DD this time around (soooooooooooo hot and she wouldn't wear her outfit the whole day), we took her to Harmony Barbershop where they did up her hair with 2 colors and confetti for a grand total of $7.50. She wore a light Cinderella dress up costume but even that was too hot for her. She got compliments throughout the day and it wasn't a budget buster.

I think at the time I posted this I was so upset by all the extra money. We really don't spend a lot going to Disney and we'll be able to make this work. I mean we have our hotel, park tickets, and Halloween tickets. We drive so we need gas and food while we travel, I'll be packing us each a lunch for Day one to eat at a picnic area.

We get a villa and we drive so we bring lunch and Breakfast food. We only eat one meal in the aprks and its always counter service, we do splurge by having 1 character meal (Chef Mickey's breakfast)

Our biggest cut back will be souveniers for the adults and home (kid's have money set aside)

I do have a ChaCha account so I started doing that again (Made $2 lol in 1 hour) but hey if I may $2 a day until trip thats an extra $150ish?

Another way to save money will be picking up our groceries here and there (it won't be such an impact) since most of what we buy will be fine for the 2 months until our trip.

But thanks for all the kind words. I love the DIS!

Oh and someone mentioned being thanful we had the money. That is exactly what we've said everytime we had to spend the big bucks. SO happy we had it in savings and didn't have to borrow or get a loan or credit card. (we've never had a credit card and would like to keep it that way)

I can totally relate!!! 6 months ago our finances were totally fine.....fast forward to now - not so great


The smart thing for us to do would be to cancel, but I refuse to do that. Dh is going to Bristol to the Nascar race 3 weeks before we go, so if he won't cancel that, I refuse to cancel Disney. We are just going to have to use our CC's and figure something out after.


We thought I'd have a new job by now, or that my little home business would make a little bit more spending money for us, but so far no luck


Just remember that the kids won't even notice the cutbacks because they will just be happy to be there
