Where along the process do u pay the $1500 deposit?

I plan on going to Disney for vacation this October which is exactly a year out from when I want my DIS wedding. A few months before (I guess around August) I was planning on giving Disney my 1st phone call and letting them know I would be down in October and would want to try and secure a date when I came down. Would I need to have a deposit ready then?

I believe most locations the deposit is 8 months out. However the Boardwalk and one or two other locations you can place the deposit on it 12 months out. I would call NOW and get pencilled in for the date and time you want at least. That way you will already have your name there and be entered in a lottery in case another bride wants the same date/time/location. Then secure the date at the 1year mark. :)

Keep in mind too that this amount does NOT go towards any of your payments due for the wedding. It's merely a deposit to hold your date/time/location. They hold it until after the wedding and if you owe any money they take it out of this. If not, they refund it to you.

So let me see if i get this right, the $!500 deposti does not go towards the 10k min? Can it go towards it or not at all??

The way I understand it is that the deposit is applied to the cost of the wedding. If your minimum is $10,000 they apply that to your total payment. If you cancel before the wedding you don't get it back, but as long as eveything goes through they will apply it to your balance.

I'm a little confused about this now as I thought it went towards the min spend?!? I'm going to email heidi now just to confirm.

Also how do you pay the deposit?

The deposit does not go towards the 10K minimum, it is a security deposit... if you go over on the day of the wedding for some reason (extra guess, last minute change etc.) then they take what you now owe out of it and refund the rest. If you don't go over on the wedding then you recieve the $1500 back a few days after your wedding.

Does anyone know if the deposit is the same for all weddings? Escape, Custom, etc? :confused3

Escape has a $750 deposit for weddings in 2008 and beyond. I believe the deposit for 2007 weddings is $500.

For escape weddings you must also book 4 nights of Disney accommodations before you can sign a contract as it is required to have an Escape wedding;

I promise you this is accurate. I checked and double checked with my coordinator when I was in the early stages and making the deposit. Unless something has changed for 2008 and beyond, that is the policy.

So does anyone know if the $500/$750 deposit for Escape weddings acts the same way (i.e., it doesn't apply toward the $3,000/$4,000 package price and you get it back at the end)?

I never even thought about our deposit not going towards the final costs.

I was just so happy to finally be sending the contract in back in March I didn't even think to ask.

I'll have to ask Tanis next time I talk to her. We only had to put down the $500. I'm curious to know now.

The woman I talked to today told me that my $500 deposit will be applied to my entire package.

For the Escape/Intimate weddings the deposit does go towards the price. So when the balance is due they will subtract the amount already paid and you will only be responsible for the balance.

So the Escape and Custom are very different re: the deposit
