I am trying to pay a deposit at the Enclave condos which I have booked with a private owner. However in the UK we pay the credit card details over the phone and it is done. But the enclave want a copy of our credit card scanned onto an email, this sound very irregular to me. Is this normal practice?:confused3

We've never had to do that for any vacation home rentals or even for a hotel reservation. Emails are not secure I wouldn't do it.

I would look further into it. Hate to say it but sometimes its not the company but shadie people working for the company doing illegal things.

Doesn't sound like normal practice - personally I wouldn't do it. You should certainly be able to pay over the phone or perhaps on-line using something like PayPal. Speak to the owners and see what they have to say about it.

I wouldn't think they would need a scanned copy of a credit card. The same thing goes on here- we pay over the phone with the card and its taken care of. They would probably ask to see it once you arrive but I definitely would not send them a picture of the actual card.

I have just got in from work and read all your emails. Thank you so very much. Angela
