Just called DVC to request to have my name put into the lottery for the bwv. The initial person who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about...but nevertheless my guide is out of town according to her voice mail until Thursday. I then requested someone else so that I could get into the lottery for Wednesday... (thanks to this site) otherwise, I would've known nothing about it. I have in the past instructed my guide to call me with any small contracts for BWV. Needless to say, I don't think I would've known about this lottery had it not been for you guys THANKS!! (although i'm not sure DH feels the same way):D

Anyways, I was very surprised when the guide told me I need to send them a check for 500$ BEFORE the lottery even takes place. Just wondering did anybody else get the same request. I (in a nice way of course ;) ) told him to take a hike. After he realized he wasn't getting a dime out of me till I won, he said we could pay the deposit once we got the paperwork. HMMMMMM, I wonder if this guy is new?

I wonder if he even put my name in...although he did wish me luck lol.......He definately wanted a 500$ deposit. Any opinions on if I should call back again tomorrow? This does seem kind of wierd

Our guide asked for the credit card number for the deposit also, good luck!

Thank you Ann! I feel better now. I never thought of the credit card number. That would've been an option, but he never suggested that. Good Luck to all of you also!

Hmm...my guide told me at 8pm last night that we had to do a Purchase Proposal, as in fill out all the paperwork as if we were going to do the purchase, BUT he said no money would trade hands for 15 days AFTER, should I get drawn in the lottery...we had 15 days after being picked to get the deposit in.

*sigh* So tempting, but in 16 days I'll be at OKW and I need that deposit money for park passes! It's killing me but I have to call him today and tell him we're skipping it this time... :(

My guide informed me that there were only 28 points available for my Use Year. She stated I couldn't finance it. It would have to be a cash transaction. She specifically stated should would NOT ask me for a deposit. I told if I was selected, I would give her a credit card number. She was okay with that - so I'm in the lottery!

Good Luck!

I think it's interesting how many different reports there are...my guide said that there were points in my use year (Feb) at OKW for anything from 25 to like 300 if interested, and that financing was available for them.

Maybe it's better for me that we're not doing this, I'd be so stressed out! Good luck to all that have their names in!! :)

Kelly,

What resort & what use year do you have that they only have 28 points? I talked to my guide, she said that Boardwalk/September did not have many points available to it....

Chris

Sorry - my use year is April and I was looking for points at BWV. The reason for no financing is because of the small amount of points.

I was never asked for a deposit. My guide is on vacation, but the one who helped me get into the lottery asked me if I'd be paying up front. When I said "yes", that was the end of that. For Dec. use year at BWV - she said there were not a lot, but some points available. She didn't get specific.

My DVC rep stated that only 6 use years were available for the lottery. No points available for the others. I was fortunate that there were points in my use year. Therefore, my name, etc. was taken in case I won. That's why you here all different rumors..........they are all true! Also, due to the amount, there may or may not be financing available.

That was the reason for not publicizing...... also, there was no need!

Just spoke to my guide, I won the lottery!! Although whoever heard of a "lottery" where you have to pay? 25 pts at the BWV, use year September. Just got the call about 45 mins ago. No deposit needed, will get paperwork in about 7 days. She did say there were only 125 pts available for BWV in that use year. She said she found out about it on Monday and was off Tuesday and Wednesday. Its amazing the different stories

I know what you mean...I keep wanting to say, "I won the lottery!" - but the implications of that are a bit different.

My guide won't be back from vacation until the weekend (at least). Won't he be surprised when he gets back and finds out he made a sale while in Europe!
