Deposit on a hired car?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if we take the Hired car that Thomson are includinginthe holiday package, and we decide to buy the insurance with Thomson before we leave.
When we collect our car from the airport will we need to still leave a credit card deposit?? If so how much roughly?
Because if this is the case we will need to makesure we have a credit card handy with enough money on.

we dont have a credit card so never leave a card imprint.

I only use dollar and they have my detaisl so dont get asked anymore

i think its incase you dont take all the insurances, we always get the insurance with a tank of fuel so have to bring it back empty but some you have to pay for if you dont take that in the insurance

I would check out various companies before deciding to go with the thomsons car as we saved a fortune not going with the packaged car and booked via usrentacar with all the insurances we need

Hi Sara, just to advise you that we have been with Thomson a couple of times and car was included in our package. However, the cost of the insurance for the car with Thomsons was more than it cost to hire a car ourselves with usrentacar. That is why we chose not to take up the offer of the 'free car' and just made our own arrangements for car hire.

the need for credit card imprint seems to depend on the package level you have with the hire company. For example, with dollar through virgin apparently you need to do the imprint if you have the normal package, but if you have the platinum package with tank of fuel and additional drivers then you dont need the imprint.
