We dined there in December '04 and when our check was brought out at the end of the meal, it was for the total cost. I checked with our server and he said that the deposit would be deducted when he put through our payment.
Sure enough, we only had to pay the balance.
I'm guessing if you have free dining they will put the money back onto your credit card as the deposit is required to ensure you actually turn up. JMHO.

That's kinda what I figured too. I don't see any other way to do it. But now I've got to remember to check my credit card statement to make sure they do it!
When I booked my breakfast on Monday, they took my card number as a guarantee but did not charge it. They'll only charge it if we're a no show. Just make sure you tell them you are on the dining plan.

It's possible the dining agent made an error. Because at first she did charge my card - then asked if I had dining and when I said yes - she processed a refund. I work at the bank and as of yesterday the authorization hadn't processed yet. They may be in such a habit of automatically charging that the agent you spoke to forgot? It might be worth a call to Dining to ask about though....
This is so crazy I was thinking about this tonight, becaue I want on allearnet and printed out a PS form (which by the way are great )
and I saw on the form that they want a deposit for a PS for CRT.
I wonder how that would work with the free dinning, so I called and they said they would not charge my card.
I am worried they will charge it now!
But wish me luck because Sunday bright and early I will be up getting that PS for CRT!
