Deposit - different for Quantum of the Seas?

I saw a thread on this same topic, but I didn't want to hijack it.

I booked just a regular stateroom with a balcony and my deposit for one stateroom for 4 people was $1920. Is that correct?

I've been reading $250 per person or $500 for the grand suite. But I don't understand why ours is so high for a regular stateroom. It is far more than what we have paid in our DCL cruise.

Does it have something to do with it being a new ship or that it's 12 nights?

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

That's all I found as well. There doesn't seem to be any mention of a large increase in deposits for new ships. I'm sure this is standard for all the other ships, but I wish they would mention something for Quantum of the Seas so I can confirm that I'm not overpaying the deposit and it's not just a glitch.

I guess I'm looking to see if anyone else had who booked the same cruise paid a similar deposit.

The usual deposit for that length cruise is $450 pp, and for 4 people that would be $1800 US - or $1986 Canadian. $1920 sounds good - if it is Canadian dollars.

By the way - the first year DCL offered cruises to Alaska, the deposit was $600 pp.

I just did a pretend booking on the 12 day for 4, and got $450 per person as a deposit requirement.

When I did one for the 8 day, it was 250.

Both were for a normal balcony room. So it seems it's the length of the trip.

Well, more paid now is less to pay later, right?

But I don't know where that extra $120 is coming from in what you paid...too little for either tips or insurance.

Would you mind letting me know where you found that information? I wish they would update their website and let their phone representatives know. I just called and inquired and she didn't seem to know why it was so much, but she assumed that it's because it's new and has not yet cruised it's first. She did try a few things to see if she can put in less deposit ($900 per stateroom) and I didn't book a suite so she couldn't figure it out. I can't the first one to ask that question.

But if it is $450 per person, then I guess I paid correctly. As for the extra, it is the exchange rate when converted to Canadian. RCCL, unlike Disney, provides a rate in Canadian dollars when you choose a Canadian province during booking.

I know because I just booked a 14-night cruise on RCI, and the deposit was $450 pp. The figure of $900 per stateroom is probably based on double occupancy. RCI sometimes has special promotions where the deposit is 50% off - but the normal deposit amount is based on the length of the cruise.

I did notice that it's under group reservations, but when I search for "Deposits", it only shows that answer.

Anyway, I understand now that the $900 is "based on double occupancy" and not per stateroom.

Thanks everyone for clarifying it. I was just a bit shock at the amount. I never paid that much for any Disney cruise. I guess I'm just used to the 10% deposits.

Anyway, I'm excited about the new Quantum!
