I have a young family of 4 and we can't decide where to stay... the Polynesian (because of the Monorail, beach, and pool) or the Beach Club Villas.

I can only afford the Villas if I rent points... never did it before, is it difficult to snag a ressie for one? We're going in June.

Please, please, please offer your advice.

Thanks so much!

renting a DVC member reservation is not hard.

that say - how old are your children?

if all under 9 - then might reconsider and go for VWL. It is much closer to the MK which will be your main park.

June 2008 BCV rooms are sold out I would say at this point. If you are going 2009 the just rent from a BCV member and book at the 7 mounth window.I own at BCV and love it. But this trip we are going to try AKV & SSR.

I would want to know what type of villa you were going to try to get.

If you were going to try for a 1 bedroom I would say go with the villa. You would have a full kitchen, separate bedroom with king size bed, jacuzzi tub, and stacking washer and dryer. All great conveniences as opposed to a hotel room. However, the other bed is a sleeper sofa. I have slept on the ones at the BoardWalk and they aren't that bad - especially if you put the kids on it.

You mention one of the reasons you are interested in the Poly is the pool. I've never been to that pool, but can't imagine it would surpass Stormalong Bay at the the Beach Club.

I also agree with the PP who suggested the VWL. The pool isn't as elaborate as Stormalong Bay but it does have a slide, and the boats to the MK and Contemporary are great!

If you're considering "renting points" at BCV, please be sure and educate yourself on how a DVC reservation is very different from a regular hotel reservation, and the basics of “renting points”, as it is often referred to.

If the choice is between a BCV studio or the Poly, go for the Poly. No question about it.

If the choice is between a BCV one-bedroom and the Poly, the choice is a bit harder because the one-bedroom villas are so spacious and comfortable.

Still . . . it's hard to beat the convenience of the Poly to MK when you have young children.

We ruled out the Poly for our first big family trip in 2009. We have two toddlers, who will be 4 and 3 at the time.

We ruled out the Poly for these reasons:

1. No workout room (this is very important for DH and I...we take turns working out when the kids are napping or asleep for the night). Walking to the GF workout room would not work for us..it's too far removed.

2. No hot tubs at the Poly. I mean, come on. Enough said.

3. No guarantee of a balcony at Poly. The second floor rooms do NOT have balconies. A balcony is imperative for us as well.

4. The noise/crowd level of the lobby. It gets VERY busy in that lobby, and it gets taken over by people there to eat at 'Ohana and Kona Cafe. I am guilty of being one of those people, but it's a shame that the guests don't have a nice quiet place to go unwind, as at the other deluxe resorts. We have an autistic son, so a nice relaxing lobby is a must.

We are leaning towards these two options:

-Beach Club Villas (2 BR unit)
-Junior Suite at WL

We picked the Poly to be on the monorail with our kids. It was wonderful! There is nothing better than watching Wishes from the resort while the kids run along the sand full of laughter.
