Bringing our son(9) and our daughter (5) to WDW for the first time in October. We are Disneyland and Disney Cruise veterans. We are driving to WDW from VA since I'm terrified to fly. We did purchase the dining plan that includes 1 table service, 1 quick service, and 1 snack for each of us. We check into POFQ on a Sunday (arriving right at 3pm) and check out Friday morning. We are trying to decide between a table service meal the night we arrive (not in one of the parks) or to save it and use it at Ohana the morning we depart. I wanted to get a sense from experienced WDW visitors on their experience on departure day if you did a breakfast before leaving. Were you done with your trip and just ready to go? Or glad you booked a breakfast on your last day. Yes we are planning on using all our other table service meals while in the parks M-Th. And yes we could pay out of pocket for another table service meal but we are trying to stick with the budget.

Thanks.

We like to do a breakfast before we go when we can, but we usually fly (also to VA). If I was driving I think I'd be anxious to get on the road and head towards home, but that is of course your call.

On your arrival day, we stayed at POFQ two trips ago and on our arrival night, we did Boatwrights over at POR. We really enjoyed it and it was a great way to start the trip. You also have the boat to DTD right there, so you could do a table service there (we love Raglan Road) or try some of the amazing QS options (Wolfgang Puck Express is our favorite and an amazing value on the dining plan).

Thank you for the info!!! Yes we will be eager to get on the road but we are taking the whole weekend to get home (visiting friends on the way home). I would love to get on a plane and just be there in a few hours but (I hate) I need to be medicated to fly.

Any POFQ room advice? We have a river view room reserved. I wanted to be closer to the lobby and buses but there no garden view rooms available.

We had a river view room too and ended up in building 6 which was perfect. It was just a building over from the pool and lobby and you could cut through the building in front of us (5 I believe) to get to the transportation. For our requests I had asked for an upper level room (I don't like the foot traffic on the first floors) and to be close to transportation and this fit the bill perfectly. If proximity is important to you, just request to be close to transportation.

Do you drive from VA to Disneyland?

A nice dinner on arrival night is a great way to start a vacation; and a way to relax after a tiring travel day. OTOH, when we drive, on departure day we are usually anxious to get miles under the wheels in case of traffic problems later in the day.

I understand your reluctance to fly. We now drive to WDW whenever we can. When we go to DLR we fly because we have to, not because we want to.

OP I would vote for the last morning breakfast. We fly leaving around lunchtime so a TS breakfast isn't in our departure plans. However the 1 time we did drive we had a TS breakfast at Boatwright's (sadly they are no longer open at breakfast)
We love Wolfgang Puck Xpress in the Marketplace and it's the best use of a CS credit imo. That would be my vote for arrival night.

We did a TS breakfast on our last day last year when we went. We also drove home to VA on a Friday and we enjoyed sleeping in a little and going to a breakfast around 9am. We had a good time, walked around the resort, and then got ready to get on the road. It was nice to walk around a little before being stuck in the car for awhile. A TS breakfast also filled everyone up so we were able to drive for awhile before stopping again. We're driving again for our trip in April and have a TS breakfast planned for our checkout day again.

We did a later breakfast at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was so wonderful and then we were set until we got home after flying.

I'm in agreement with others about starting your trip at Wolfgang Puck Express Marketplace in Disney Springs. It's a wonderful value and really good food. We also drive and always end our trip at Kona Cafe. The best thing about driving is that you don't have a time schedule (at least we don't). You asked if we felt done and ready to go, so here's my answer to that: honestly, I'm never ready to leave the World and love to extend it as much as I can (there are usually tears on departure day).

The resort is really small, even the far building is a lot closer than most other resorts closest room. River view generally puts you 1 short building away but everything is 1 short building away.

I also like doing wolf gang puck express on arrival day when i'm not going to try to hit a park. We combine with a nice "we're here" stroll and window shopping around disney springs.

I think after reading all your responses we will do the TS breakfast on the departure day. We have til Sunday night to get home. I think the afternoon we arrive we will swim and eat at Disney Springs. Thanks so much for your input!
