I am going with my 5 year old special needs son in Aughst for the first time. Due to his issues his therapist say to stick with table service meals since I will be alone. Best case is character meals for him. So I am trying to do as many as possible. I have them almost daily. Trying to figure out departure day.

I am staying at AKL. Flight not leaving til 9:30 pm so ME won't pick up til 6:30. I am using that time to go to Magic Kingdom. Trying to figure out what to eat last day and when. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Just so you know the rest of my dining.

Garden grill dinner
Chef Mickey breakfaat
Be our guest dinner
Hollywood and vine both breakfast and dinner
Tuskers breakfast
Sanaa dinner
Crystal palace breakfast
Royal table dinner
Ohana breakfast
Trex dinner
Boma breakfast
Sci fi drive in dinner (might change still up in air if I'm doing HS or AK that day)

Any suggestions for departure day knowing we'll have til 6:30 pm would be helpful.

Hi. rainforest is fun for kids but I don;t think they do reservations and that may not be for you. Maybe if you'd go at an off time, you may enjoy that.

What does your son like to eat at home? If he likes pizza, take him to a pizza place or if he likes Chinese, take him to a Chinese place. We always tried to let the kids pick out a place or 2 since we made most picks and no matter how bad it might have been, we'd try to tell them what a great job they did of choosing a place.

I've always done 1900 Park Fare for breakfast on my departure day then gone to DTD/DS. Thats just my tradition though.

1900 Park Fare at the GF is a great choice. You could do a later breakfast buffet seating such as 10:30 or 11:00 to combine breakfast & lunch. This will give you time to pack up and check out without rushing.
There you can meet, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, and others. Best of all, when you're done, you are just one monorail stop away from the MK.

I like this idea. My thought first was be our guest early breakfast and then crystal palace late lunch. His lovey is a tigger doll. This tigger goes everywhere including down the aisle at weddings. Tigger has a tux. Whole nine yards. So I thought a second stop with tigger would be fun. But I like the idea of someplace else.

Since you are headed to MK, a quick 10 min walk from the bus drop off to The Contemporary for breakfast at The Wave. The buffet is really good and always fresh. Trails End buffet breakfast is a boat ride from MK, and food is good here too. Since you know your sons needs, this may or may not work, but breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe is a fun place. Lots of characters of a different variety there, you can catch a boat as well.

The Plaza is a nice basic restaurant. It is small so if he gets uncomfortable with a small room, then it might not be for you.

There are plenty of good places off the monorail. The Wave at the Contemporary is really good, Kona is good but may be too "exotic" for your son. 1900 Park Faire is a very noisy room.

Tigger was one of the characters at 1900 PF last time I had breakfast there. It was Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice and Mad Hatter.

I would go with a late morning Crystal Palace breakfast (100% chance Tigger is there! Trust me, I am his Ally :tigger:) and then I would get something at your hotel. My reasoning there is you have to get back to the hotel for the ME bus (you didn't say where you were staying?). To me, I would plan to get back to the hotel around 4ish which is way early but builds in time for transit troubles and a sit down meal before getting on the bus.

You could do Boma for breakfast, and try for a 1:00 to 2:00 Chef Mickeys for Lunch, to say goodbye to the characters. or you could reserve it, so you are back at AK and not rushing to get back to catch ME, and you can say goodbye to the Animals.

Kona is another option while not character, it does offer a variety of choice for entrée.

I would head to Crystal Palace for a meal around 3:00ish. That would give you time to eat, and not rush, and get back to AKL in time to leave for the airport. Or 1900 Park Fare for lunch...even Chef Mickey's. I wouldn't book anything any later than 3:00 though. That will give you enough time to get back to AKL and get ready to leave.
