DH & I will be in Denver for a long weekend to attend a conference. We'll be in busy during the daytime but will have our evening & all day on Sunday free. Anything we should see or do that is special to Denver?

I live just north of Denver. I am at work now and can't really fully answer your question, but I can tonight when I get home. Do you like cultural stuff, hiking, shopping, etc.? Let me know, and I'll tell you what you can do.

Tour the Mint, if staying downtown, Art Museum, Museum of Natural History(right now they have an exhibit on Space exploration). Take a drive in the mountains on Sunday (maybe your hotel could pack a picnic). There are many places to just pull off the road by a mountain stream and have a picnic. Again if staying downtown, check to see what may be on in the theater area your hotel could probably get you tickets. Denver downtown area is very compact and all of the theater district is a quick walk from most hotels. There are also many sporting venues near downtown such as Rockies baseball. Also Elitch Garden- 6 Flags is almost right downtown. Most of this depends on when you are going.

Also, there is gambling in the mountains at Blackhawk and Central City. If this would interest you, There are busses that leave from various places around town. Check with your hotel and they might have info about these busses or I can find out for you based on where you are staying.

We are staying at the Omni-Interlocken. I take it this is a ways outside of Denver proper. We will have a rental car. I love theatre, concerts & shopping. Bookstores? The gambling might be of interest - what are the casinos like there? Thanks for your input & suggestions - I knew my fellow Dis'rs would know where to find some fun!

You will be in Broomfield which is northwest of Denver-Actually you will be very close to where I live in Colorado.

If you like malls, Flatiron Crossing is very close to you. Be sure to visit Boulder (which is about 15 minutes away) and go to the Pearl Street Mall which is an outdoor pedestrian mall. You'll be about 45 minutes from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Downtown Denver is about 20-30 minutes from where you are staying. As mentioned before, there is tons to do there.

Have Fun

:) I'll be in Denver beginning this Saturday night and staying until August 3rd. My kids are racing at Bandimere Speedway along with about 500 other young'ns from across the Western half of the United States.

The Coors brewery is open every day but Sunday. I've heard it's a pretty good tour, so it might be worth looking into if you get a free afternoon.

I've also heard good reviews of the Celestial Seasonings Tea tour. It lasts about an hour and is free.

We went up to Blackhawk ( I think that's it) to gamble when we were up there last year. The scenery along the way is great, with the long winding roads up through the mountains and along the streams. We ended up in this little old mining town with small saloon type casinos. It was pretty cool. We did pass a few of the big name casinos, but they looked pretty small too.

May both of our trips be a blast!
