Dental facialities

This may sound a strange question but although I know there are medical facilties on board what happens if you need urgent dental assistance.

There is a clinic on board, but no dental facilities. I worried about needing a dentist when we once cruised two years ago. Better to visit a dentist a few weeks before your trip. I can't imagine anything worse than having toothache or gum pain while on a cruise.

Just a suggestion........ we always pack a bottle of Anbesol and a tube of the temporary dental filling. Even if you visit the dentist before you leave, you never know when you might lose a filling.

A tube of temporary dental filling? Pardon my ignorance, but where do you get that (other than the obvious, the dentist?) Or is this something over the counter? Just curious, as I have never worried about this, but I guess it is a good thing to think about. Thanks in advance for the info!

I just saw the temporary dental filling in my grocery store next to the toothpaste and dental floss, etc. I guess it would be a good thing to have especially if you have ever had problems with fillings before.

wow, I could have used that temp filling stuff...On one of our cruises, I bit into a coconut shrimp at PC and broke off a piece of tooth...luckily, it didnt hurt at all, just an unpleasant feeling..apparently, I needed a root canal, and the tooth had been weakened prior to chipping...
