Denied entrance due to capacity

I understand that Disneyland can limit or deny entrance due to the parks being at capacity. I totally appreciate this may be necessary for safety reasons, I just want to be sure my family and I are on the magical side of the gate! We are thinking of visiting during Spring Break (first full week of April). Is this something that is likely to occur during the Spring Break season? We plan to stay off-site, so no “guaranteed admission” from the resorts.

Thanks!

Haven't heard of any anyone being denied entry during Spring Break. It does happen during Christmas/New Year's at times. Although I was there over this past NYE and the only time DL closed that day was to new entries. If you had a hand stamp you were allowed back in.

I wouldn't worry about it. Have fun! :goodvibes

This is always a possibility when the Parks get really crowded. Spring Break *probably* isn't going to be an issue, but there is always the chance (small as it may be) that it could be.

Before you leave the Park mid-day, you will want to look for signs warning you that the Park is busy, may reach capacity, make sure you have a hand stamp, etc....

Generally those signs will be there if Disney feels that there is a likelihood of capacity being reached.

And I know this is not your question, but just FYI, staying onsite does nothing to guarantee admission if the Park reaches the final stage of capacity which is: Absolutely no entry of any kind.

Just want to be sure that I have this right...

We will be there on July 4th. If we enter the park in the morning, and it looks like they will reach capacity...we can get our hands stamped and be able to get back in if we leave for part of the day?

Well yes and no. There are many levels to managing capacity crowds at Disneyland. One level is no more one day ticket sales. Then the next level would be no more new entries (re-entry with handstamp ok). Then there are lots of in between measures such as on-site people get to go in, but not off-site folks. And the final level is no entries period! I have never seen that one myself, but it has happened.

Not exactly. It depends on how full it is. Capacity closures come out several levels. Stop selling ticket to new guests. Stop letting APHs in. Stop allowing reentry even though they have hand stamps. Stop letting resort hotel guests in.

As people leave they can reverse this and let those different levels back in or in for thier first chance of the day.

For the 4th this year being midweek chance of hitting even the bottom level is low. If it was a Friday through Monday it would be likely. So don't worry but do expect it to be very crowded and more so as the day goes on as people show up to see the nights fireworks.

We were there for the 4th last year .... it was pretty crowded but there weren't any capacity/restriction issues.

Holidays are a bigger issue with reaching capacity. Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas holidays, New Years Eve, etc.

It will be crowded during Spring Break but, Spring Break lasts almost the entire month of March and into Easter. I don't think capacity on any given day will be a problem.

If I may ask a related question: If the no entry without a handstamp rule applied, would guests with dining reservations be allowed entry if they had not been inside the parks earlier in the day?

I doubt it will happen. But even if it does, you would only be shut out for an hour or so. Just go to DCA for a bit and it will reopen.

No.
