Deluxe vs. Moderate for Honeymoon????

I was a disney bride last May and we disneymooned there too! I really don't think there is any major difference in the mod and deluxe, and I'm a hotel snob! We didn't spend that much time in the room, and when we did we thought ours was perfect. All of the rooms have the same basic layout, and the extras weren't worth the $$ for us. I definitely wouldn't recommend splitting up your stay, as that would be a pain to have to unpack and all. I would stay in a mod all over again and have no regrets. Spend the extra $ of meals and souvenirs!
Have fun!

If it was my honeymoon I would definitly want to splurge and stay in a Deluxe, but that's just my opinion. The moderates are really romantic, too.

We stayed at CBR last May and there were TONS of couples walking around w/the bride and groom ears.

In my opnion Deluxes are wonderful, but if you are on you Honeymoon & are worrying about how you over-extended yourself, then it won't be fun!

I'm going to use a bad word hear...RACK RATE!!! I didn't know about any of these great websites when we honeymooned & paid 139 or 149 a night before taxes for our room.... for 13 nights!!! I wanted to stay in a deluxe but couldn't afford it back then just starting out. We didn't feel cheated at all staying at a moderate! We have now grew into deluxes but are going to go back to POR later this year. We took romantic walks every night on the lush grounds.

Have fun & make the decision that's right for you! WDW is a great Honeymoon destination no matter what you decide!
GOOD LUCK & BEST WISHES!!!!!

I would consider Wilderness Lodge. We love it! You get the deluxe feel for the closer to moderate rate, just watch mousesavers and book.Plus, not to "rain on your parade", but we were at the lodge last year during hurricane Jeanne and it is much better to be at one of the deluxe hotels during something like that, where the hotel is in lockdown for 24 hours, but you have 3 restaurants and characters in the lobby and a bluegrass band or in one of the other moderates or other hotels where you might be in lockdown in your room. Heaven forbid that anything like this happen on your honeymoon, but last year they had 3 hurricaines, and we were very thankful to be in the lodge where if you didn't look out the windows, you almost forgot what was going on. Our kids were never really afraid, the staff was wonderful, and we could walk around the whole hotel, and go in the shop, play games in the lobby. Plus the WL is just beautiful!!! :earsgirl:

We've been going to the S/Dolphin for years and that would be a wonderful place for a honeymoon. Lots of restaurants, things to do at night such as walking or boating to Epcot, the Boardwalk or MGM. Check out those nurse rates!
Also with a AAA rate the AKL really wasn't priced too badly that would also seem a romantic place to stay.
But if you choose a moderate I like the idea of POR mansions or POFQ then at night you can take the boat to Downtown.

DF and I are getting married in Sept. while on on vacation at WDW. The biggest problem we are having is where to stay! After going back and forth between every deluxe and moderate resort-we are even more confused. The deluxes sound so wonderful and luxrious, however, they are also over $2,000.00 more than a moderate resort. Will we be disappointed if we stay at a moderate and regret it later. If we stay at the moderates, it would leave a lot of money to do the extras, like Illuminations cruise, V&A, etc..
We stayed at the CBR last July and had a great time. Or should we go all out and splurge on the deluxe? I am not too sure if it will be worth the extra money. Since we are at WDW and will be gone for most of the day at the parks! NEED ADVISE!!!! Those who have honeymooned at the moderates did you regret not staying at the deluxe??? Its just so much more! TIA!!! :sad2:

We stayed at Port Orleans for our honeymoon and LOVED IT! that way, we got to stay for 11 days and it was very magical.

Just think of how much "extra" fun you could have for $2000! We hm'd at WDW, stayed at POFQ and LOVED IT!!! We had a corner, king room with a waterview and it was FANTASTIC! We were close to the pool, the boat launch and the main food court. Back in 99, they also had a full service restaurant called Bonfamille's (anybody else remember that one?) that we had breakfast at a couple of times.

We also splurged on our hm and spent A LOT of money on dining out, souvenirs, etc. (V&A the last night of our hm). Money that we had saved by staying in a moderate. We had a great time and we did LOVE POFQ. It holds a special place in our hearts. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. But fortunately we also toured the Boardwalk Villas on our honeymoon! We didn't buy into DVC until 2003 but we are sure glad we did. But I still wouldn't hesitate to stay at POFQ again.
