Did anyone else notice the room only nightly price increases in the last couple of days? I have been regularly monitoring our October dates and here is what has happened to the resorts that I am interested in:
BWI Garden View - $548 to $559 Club Level Standard - $772 to $795
AKL Standard - $421 to $438 Sav View - $591 to $607 Club Level Sav View- $711 to $738
Wilderness Nature - $663 to $ 686 Club Level Standard - $714 to $748
Contemporary Garden - $530 to $548

Just an observation.

I was actually just noticing that Poly prices are up just slightly over our trip. I already have a room booked with a BB discount, but I always look to see if there are any discounts, or what kind of availability is left, and the standard rack rate looks like it's up close to $20. Glad I got my BB last month!

Disney does this now. They can and will quietly raise the pricing of the resort rooms overnight. I did mention this as a possibility of them doing here soon to help with the losses in the parks in China. I wonder if they will start this sort of thing with tickets.

They just raised tickets, about a week or so ago, so that probably won't happen again for a little bit. They did this unexpectedly the last two years, and when I pointed it out to a few people I got yelled at because "Disney never raises resort prices once they're set!" but they do now. This is why once I know I am going on a trip, have the dates set, and know where I want to stay I book it immediately.

With the recent blow to the stock market, and the likelihood that people will be less likely to travel this summer than in years past due to virus scares, I wouldn't be surprised to see heavy discounts on these rates coming soon.

I've noticed that the prices bounce up and down. I'm assuming related to demand.

Yes, checked the rates at the WL for my December dates. The nightly rates are up $25 to $30 a night depending on the date. I'm glad I made the reservation many months ago.

Disney will do this numerous times throughout the year. No telling what the rack rate will end up being for say the night of December 11th verses what it was when the rates were first released.

I know that if this virus hits this country hard it will hit way more than Disney. But the travel industry will be the first to be hit and I believe they will be the hardest hit. I have said it before but I will say this again about Disney and the discounts, when they have to release the bigger discounts on the room rates will it matter much? I mean a 40%-50% discount off of a $685 room, a $739 room, or a $2000 a night two-bedroom villa will still be a nice chunk of change because of the amount they have raised the rack rates to begin with. This may very well come back to bite them in the but.

Noticed that this morning and glad I locked in a discount for Nov.

You think? It could happen, but didn't they have to shutter some of the resorts in the early 2000's? Or not?
Yes, the opening of Pop Century was delayed by several years, they stopped construction of the legendary years section, sections of AKL and POR were closed and I believe all of POFQ was closed.

I thought there were some of the resorts that were shuttered. Not saying that it would most certainly happen again with the next downfall, but to think that they would be full as well because they are a smart business is a long shot in its self.

As far as I know PORQ was closed. And you are right, the legendary years section never build until it became the art of animation. (The bridge over hour glass lake was originally refereed to as the Generation Gap Bridge)

Yes, parts of AKL were closed. I stayed there in December 2001 and roughly half the rooms were closed down. I received an upgrade to concierge. The mansion section (magnolia bend) of POR was closed also.
