Hello! I am planning a trip for 5-6 adults. I know that no regular rooms hold 6, but some deluxes hold 5. I don't know if the 6th will be joining us or not. I am currently looking into deluxes that can accommidate 5 adults. I have read that some daybeds are child size, and some are adult size. My sister will be 13 at the time, but very tall for her age (already adult size). I have looked into FW cabins, but really wanted a resort with a close food option and pool, not so spread out. It is still an option if the 6th guest travels with us. I have also looked into a 2 br DVC, but find it risky to try and rent points over christmas and expensive. I would rather reserve a regular hotel room far in advance. I have looked at 2 rooms at All-Stars, for 2 bathrooms, but want a hot tub, etc. Two moderates is an option. Any ideas??? Also, what is the cut off for paying for an extra adult. We will be 3 over 21 and 13, and 15. How much will it be at a deluxe or a FW log home for the extra adult??? Sorry for all the questions, but the DIS is the greatest information source!!! Thank you, Renessa

5 Adults and /or older kids in a deluxe is alot of people but you could do it. The Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Yacht Club, Beach Club and some deluxe rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge have room for 5 adults. Age cut off is 17 years old. The Wilderness Lodge has some deluxe rooms that sleep 6 but still only have one bathroom.

Rooms are for 4 and only 1 child under 3. This rule is due to fire codes. Personally, I think you are going to be on top of one another. The rooms at Disney even deluxe are not that roomy and are ideally for 2 adults and 2 sm children and 1 in a crib - tops! There is only 1 bathroom and it is not big. There are 2 sinks but 4 adults and 1 bathroom - Gosh! My husband and I are frequent travellers to Disney Delux Resorts, it is only the 2 of us and when we are done un packing there is a lot of "stuff" around, toiletries, shoes, etc...The day beds are not large they are the size of a love seat. since the rooms are not that big to begin with they cannot fit big furniture in them. There are sites on this board FAQ for delux resorts and you can visit the Disney website for more floor plans of different rooms. IMHO you will be miserable and on top of one another and you will not have enough space. Even though you think that you will not spend much time in your room, you will realize how important your room is when you are in an uncomfortable situation. I would opt for 2 connected rooms, this way you can have the doors open and have 2 bathrooms, 2 queen beds 2 closets and everyone will be much more comfortable.

I have to correct Gonga, in SOME of the deluxes the day beds are small, in others they are full sized in length.

The Polynesian and GF have the largest rooms, and both also offer the longer daybeds. The BC doesn't have a day bed in every room, nor does the YC since the renovations. It used to be that the BC rooms that had a daybed had a full sized one. The daybeds at the BWI are not suitable for a medium sized adult. Not all rooms at the AKL have a daybed either.

Two rooms at a moderate resort with a code would probably be your best bet.

I have seen the full size Daybeds, as we go to GF and Poly every year. If the 13 year old is "adult size" I would find the daybed rather uncomfortable, espically after walking in the parks all day! We always stay in Deluxe Cons rooms when at the GF, and they happen to be of the larger rooms in the Disney Resorts (we still find them on the smallish side and we are 2 adults). I still think that 5 adult size people will be very crowded in 1 room, as I would not like being one of the 5 in that room. Then again this is only IMHO based on 40+ trips to WDW and always staying on site.

The occupancy at the deluxe resorts is 5 and one under three in a crib with the exception of AKL and WL.As someone stated, the teenagers will not be counted as adults since they're not 18. For admission to the parks they're considered adults but not in the eyes of the resorts.

If you want a deluxe, I'd pick CR or the newer buildings at Poly. The rooms are larger. My family of 5 (kids are 22, 20 &17) is very comfortable in the newer buildings at the Poly.

We don't find the rooms at the GF quite as roomy. We've had 2 rooms when we stay there. I often wonder if the SQ. footage there includes the vanity area?

I would NOT go with the Polynesian, as most of the rooms do not have an extra sink outside the bathroom. This would be very handy with a lot of people. I'm not sure if the CR or GF have this option either, but someone here will probably know. :) YC/BC rooms do, but they really are too small for 5 people, IMO.

I'd second the idea of 2 rooms at a moderate. Or, of course, 2 at any Deluxe if you can swing the cost! Deluxe will have queen beds, moderates or all stars will have doubles.

The rooms at the Contemporary and Poly are the largest on property. They also have a big daybed. My 13 yr. old slept on the daybed at the Contemporary and had plenty of room. She is my size, 5'5, 140lbs.

The Grand Floridian was built several years after the Contemporary and Poly and has slightly smaller rooms. I've never stayed there personally so can't comment on room size.

We've also stayed at the Beach Club and that daybed is also a large one, but as I understand it, not every room at the Beach Club has a daybed in it. My DD, almost 14 at the time, was quite comfortable on it as well. The Beach Club's rooms are smaller than the Contemporary's but we found that because of the layout and furniture, we had more floor space so to speak at the Beach Club.

Oh, I should say that there were 5 of us... DH, myself, DD (13.75), DS (6), and DD (2) but no crib...

I agree that five adults in one room would be beyond tight. but my almost 6' son slept in the Poly daybed last August and had no problem. It was the same size in length as his double bed at home. It was NOT loveseat sized.

I can only speak about the two deluxes we've stayed at -- yc and poly -- but the day beds were twin bed size, not love seat size. Our 6' tall son was perfectly at home on both of them.

With all of those $25 extra adult charges you would be better off getting 2 rooms at a moderate resort.:D

We were at Ft Wilderness last March and with 4 adults and 2 kids and we were fine. It will depend on how comfortable you are with each other, as 4 will have to sleep in the same room. There is a full-size Murphy bed in the living area, and a separate bedroom with a full-size bed and 2 bunks. If you have one adult teeny enough to sleep on that top bunk, you'll be fine. I slept in the bottom bunk and it was just fine. The real problem? One bathroom! We requested loop #2100 because it is the one cabin loop that's close to "real" campsites and there is a public toilet within walking distance. Grandpa would head off to the "comfort station" each morning to shower so the cabin bath didn't have such a lineup! The cabin also has a full kitchen. We loved Ft. Wilderness and the cabins.

PS -- I don't think there IS an extra-adult charge at the cabins, as they are meant to sleep 6. We chose the cabin over 2 rooms at a Value or Moderate because of the kitchen. My children also loved the idea that we were "camping out." The cabin is really like a little home.

I'm confused what you mean by "all of those" $25 extra adult charges? The children under age 17 would not be charged the extra adult charges- regardless of how tall they are. So with 3 adults- she'd only be paying ONE extra adult charge.

I stayed at the Poly with 4 adults and the one who slept on the day bed was about 5'8" and she was perfectly comfortable throughout the entire stay. You might be a bit cramped, but if you really want to stay at a deluxe and 2 rooms is more than you can afford then you'll be fine. We chose to all stay in one room at the Poly because then we'd have more money to spend on nicer restaurants and souvenirs. Also, the Poly had great restaurants and was in a great location (right at the TTC so you could access all monorails-resort, express, and Epcot- without switching) so we loved it.

I really appreciate all this info. I have never stayed in a deluxe. I had really wanted to stay at AK, but with the possibility of 5 that is out of the question. I am traveling with my 3 siblings (I am the oldest) and my husband. One bathroom might be the biggest issue in a deluxe. Having the seperate vanity area outside would be nice. Which deluxes offer this??? My thoughts were to stay somewhere where we could all be together, which is why I wanted one room. If the sixth person joins us, we'll definately go with 2 rooms, as it would be my sisters (23 at the time) boyfrriend/fiance. He would need a level of privacy. The five of us would really be fine. Is the vanity at the cabins also inside the bathroom? Some of us shower at night (3) and some in the morning (2 or 3), so it could be less of a problem than I think. I really do plan to be on the go 24/7. Planning a relaxing sit-down lunch for park days, and every other day at DTD, BW, TY, BB, etc. Do the cabins charge for the extra adults? Anyone know for sure? Thanks for all the great info. I will print out all the responses so my husband and oldest sister can consider all the pros and cons as well. Thanks again, Renessa!!!

Hi Renessa!

At the Contemporary, the bathroom is kind of two rooms with a sink and tub in the main part and then a sink and toilet in a room off of that (at least in the tower rooms, some rooms in the garden wing don't have the extra sink with the toilet). At the Beach Club, there is a separate vanity/sink area outside the bathroom and was extremely convenient. It's been a while since we were at the Poly and I can't remember how that one was set up.

Also, it was my understanding that the deluxe rooms at the AKL could accomodate 5 people. I don't know that for a fact but it was an option suggested to us when we were looking at different resorts.

Sorry I can't help with the cabins but I'm sure there's someone here who knows the answer!

You can still stay at the AKL. The deluxe rooms are a bit larger and some of them have furniture to sleep 5. We had a room with a queen size bed, bunk beds and a day bed. I am 6'1" and slept on the top bunk fine. The daybeds here are even better than the daybeds at the other deluxe resorts. There are duel vanities outside the bathroom. We had four adults and it was fine. All of the deluxe rooms are on the 5th floor. Here is a link to some pics by someone else of the exact room we had. be aware though that very few of the deluxe rooms have the larger balcony. We lucked out. Clock on "Resorts" then "AKL" then "August 2002" and finally on "In Room".
