Just came home from a fabulous trip and wanted to write up a quick review! We had a family of 7 (me, dh, ds3, ds7, ds9 and grandparents). I booked all of our dining 180 days ahead.
9/15: Carribbean Beach Food Court
We enjoy the food court at this resort. However, my dh was very disappointed because they removed the buffalo chicken sandwich from their menu!
9/15: Chef Mickey's Dinner
This is never my favorite, but my husband loves the food here. For some reason I just don't see much of a selection that I like. Service was very good and luckily, my boys did find something they liked.
9/16: SciFi Lunch
We had a great server who was very talkative and attentive. We got burgers and shakes which were considered both a drink and a dessert so we were able to give one to our kids and have one ourselves.
9/16: H&V Fantasmic Dinner
I know this place gets bad reviews, but we LOVE it! Each year we go and the food is always great and there is always something my children like on the buffet.
9/17: Chef de France (lunch)
I was nervous going into this restaurant because it was a new one for us. However, my 9 year old who is very picky (like his mother) enjoyed his meal. Our server was great (and good looking too!) but it took a long time to complete this meal - about 2 hours. We will definitely go back! I had the mac and cheese which was almost as good as my grandmother's. I had the chocolate cream puffs for dessert which I thought were just okay. Next time I would try a different dessert. My dh enjoyed the creme brulee.
9/17: Teppan Edo (dinner)
Our favorite two years in a row! Our chef was incredible and made a Mickey face with onions and sesame seeds! He also took pictures with our kids as the chef. The tempura appetizer and filet were great. Though I am not a fan of their desserts.
9/18: CRT (breakfast)
I just like doing this meal because otherwise with 3 boys, I would never see any Princesses. I like eating in the castle, but the food was just average. I did not like the stuffed french toast (I only ate the filling). However, my dh ordered the crab crepe and enjoyed it very much.
9/18: O'Hana (dinner)
LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal
The dessert was melt in your mouth fabulous and we really like the noodles and the pot stickers and also the salad.
9/19: Tusker House (breakfast)
For once, we actually did not have a long wait at this restaurant like in past years (thanks to our 8:30 reservation). I am a donut eater - and thank goodness this place has Krispy Kremes! In fact, I was still full from dinner so I think I only ate the donuts and drank the yummy jamba juice! My boys really love this restaurant and we will return each visit.
9/19: Rain forest cafe (dinner)
I wanted to try this because the RFC near our house closed. Not sure if it was because the restaurant isn't truly "disney" or what, but I was not thrilled with the food. The turkey wrap was very peppery and the Volcano dessert was just average. Will not return.
9/20: Islands of Adventure Day
Shutters (dinner)- Carribbean Beach
Okay, remember I'm a picky eater. My kids ate plain chicken breast and did not like the rice. My husband enjoyed his meal. But my meal was gross. The appetizer (shrimp) was soaked in a funky sauce and my dinner was like a pot roast. Yuck! I would never return to this restaurant.
9/21: Main Street Bakery (breakfast)
That cinnamon roll was worth every calorie!!!
9/21: Crystal Palace (lunch)
We always go to lunch at this restaurant with each visit. For me, I think the food is just okay. The dessert bar is great though. I really only go to this one for the characters and because I am not a fan of Tony's or LTT.
SNACKS
Each year I say I will use the snack credits on snacks and finally this year I can say that I did it!
Favorite Snacks this year include:
Salted Chocolate Caramel from Germany - HOLY CRAB THIS WAS FABULOUS! My kids asked, "mommy what are you eating?" and I replied, "Oh a little piece of heaven!"
Citrus Swirl - MK
Popcorn
Dole Whip - my parents enjoyed this (I of course don't like pinneaple!)
Frozen Coke
Large Glazed Donut Stick from the expresso kiosk. My 3 year old LOVED them!
I know it's not a disney snack but the BUTTER BEER from Harry Potter was our favorite snack. We each had 2 of them in one day!
Snacks that were just "okay"
Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel
Mickey Bar
Caramel Marshmallow Swirl - Germany
Caramel Popcorn - Germany
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Sunset Island - Polynesian
SOOOO GOOOD!
Grand Marnier Orange Slush Drink from France -
GREAT! It was very nice to bring it inside with our dinner. My dh even had one with me.
Fiesta Margarita from Mexico -
This one was just "okay". Next time I will just get another france drink!
Anyway - I hope this helps in your food choices for your upcoming trip!
