Hubby and I are celebrating our one year wedding anniversary at Disney!
We Honeymooned there last year, but we did it all wrong. We stayed off property and had no dining plan. Paid everything out of pocket.
We are considering the DDP, my question is... Does EACH diner get an app, entree and dessert for EACH meal?
I just feel like that is a lot of food! :)
Trying to make the best decision for our wallets, We also have reservations at two signature restaurants, The yachtsman, and Le Cellier ( which i just found out was changed to a signature, as it wasnt last time we ate there.)
Anyway, any info on the DDP would be appreciated!!! Thanks guys!

Each diner on the plan is entitled to appetizer, entree, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage for each table service lunch and dinner. You are not entitled to appetizers if you use the credits for counter service lunch or dinner. Breakfast, whether TS or CS, does not include appetizers or desserts - the breakfast allotment is one entree or combo meal and one beverage.

Also, full buffets or full menu at a fixed menu/fixed price restaurant.

Le Cellier is only 2 credits at dinner. Lunch is still one credit.

Note that just because you're entitled to it, you don't have to use it. If you're doing DxDP at mostly TS locations, you could probably split an appetizer and dessert at each "menu service" meal and still being doing quite well from a dollars and cents standpoint.

The DxDP is a LOT of food. Also, keep in mind, that for each sit down meal you use, a tip is required. I think I spent almost 300-400 on tips the last time I used the DxDP. Don't forget to add that to your cost.

It is a lot of food;) We have done deluxe a couple of time and are doing it for 3 of our 7 nights in October. I ususally use the appetizer for a salad...then it doesn't seem like so much food. I usually only eat a few bites of the dessert too.

I am considering upgrading from reg dinning plan (not quick serve) to deluxe. My reasons being I think I will save money in the long run because it gives you an extra snack per day and the refillable mug.

Plus, by doing this, you would theoretically save money on tips b/c you would not have to tip on things you did not order.

BTW, I don't think paying OOP is wrong either...if the dining plans don't fit the way you normally eat, then just eat what you want :thumbsup2

DH and I did the deluxe plan for our 10th anniversary in November. It is a lot of food, but manageable if you plan for it. What worked well for us was to schedule a Signature meal *every* night. We had either a TS breakfast and an early dinner, or a very early lunch (we booked the opening time slot) and a later dinner. Doing it this way worked out very well, and we had a dining adventure!

Here's where we ate:

Brown Derby dinner
Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast
California Grill dinner
Restaurant Marrakesh lunch
Flying Fish dinner
Yak and Yeti lunch
Artist Point dinner
Sci Fi Dine In lunch
Narcoossee's dinner
Boma breakfast
Jiko dinner

We actually brought disposable gladware with us to pack up some of the better snacks (cupcakes, etc) and bring them home with us:rotfl:

THAT is a FABULOUS idea! Never even crossed my mind!
Thank you!!!

we did DxDPL last year and LOVED it ~!! We'll never switch to regular. It's not that it's the "quantity"....it's where you can choose. For us, we knew we wanted a character meal each morning. Well, if you do the reg. dining plan, that's your TS for the day.

We wound up doing a character breakfast each morning and for dinners, we did 2TS restaurants every other day. ( so for 7 nights, we only had actual lunch 3 times) the rest was breakfast and a 2TS dinner. On those days, we used our snack credits if we wanted something mid day. We never found that it was too much food, because we weren't eating 3 big meals each day.

Also, said going in, whatever we get for an appetizer / dessert, we'd have about 1/2 and that's it. (yeah, that didn't always work on the desserts....;))

The DxDpl gives you a great opportunity to try restaurants you might not have gone to. We did CRT twice, Narcoosee's and Flying Fish. Now Narcoosee's and Flying Fish are two of our favorites!! :thumbsup2 we just kept a separate envelope for the tips, so it was all budgeted for. You can get an idea of pricing from the menus on www.allears.net
