For our April 2013 trip, we are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. As of now, our budget will only allow either staying at a deluxe resort OR deluxe dining plan. If we did go with deluxe dining plan, our goal would be to eat only one table service a day (but at a two credit restaurants). We never have done any two credit restaurants and would love to. however, we haven't stayed deluxe either and we won't have a car so the location can't be beat.

Decisions decisions. What would you do???

Have you considered renting points from a dvc member? You might find that you could have the both of best worlds, deluxe resort and deluxe dining. That is how we afford both. Otherwise, I would go with deluxe dining as how long do you actually spend at the resort? And with the deluxe dining plan, you can always visit and eat at other resorts.

I agree with PP about renting DVC points and getting the deluxe plan; however, if I was forced to choose, I think I personally would choose a deluxe resort and the regular dining plan because deluxe is just SO. MUCH. FOOD then pay oop for the extra meals. It's less convinent, but might be cheaper and you won't be forced to eat food you don't necessarily want.

For me, it would depend on the circumstances. If it were only you & your DH, I would go with DxDDP & eat 2 TS meals a day (breakfast/early lunch, then signature dinner). If you are only considering one TS a day, I would choose DDP & pay for some meals OOP. DxDDP isn't a good value, if you eat a lot of CS.

If you're taking the kids, I'd choose the deluxe resort. Most young kids wouldn't appreciate a signature meal every evening.

My DH & I like a nice resort & great food. For this reason, we stay at S/D, or Hilton Bonnet Creek. I think we're staying at Waldorf Astoria next. We can get our hotel for less than we'd pay at WDW deluxe resorts, which allows us to eat a multi-course signature meal w/wine every evening. When our DS was young, we stayed at WDW deluxe resorts & don't find them any nicer than the hotels I listed, but that's a personal decision. With young kids, the MK resorts are very convenient, which gives them an edge. S/D are just as convenient, if Epcot is your focus, as it is ours.

When it comes down to it, we wouldn't sacrifice great food for any hotel.

Both, just stay for fewer days and plan on spending more time at the resort.

I vote for Deluxe Resort. The dining plan is alot of food and you end up spending so much time eating instead of being in the parks
